I'm hosting this week's CAS challenge and the theme, thanks to Raleigh, is "Around the World".
Well, my trip around around the world didn't get very far. I was prepared to go to some far off place with my card, but a friend asked me to make a card to help celebrate her friend becoming a US citizen. How could I say no to that? And besides, the USA is around the world to some of you.
I went looking through our Featured Stamper's (MerMer5050) gallery for inspiration and came up with this fabulous card. A red and white striped background would be perfect for this card. I liked that she embossed the striped background, but I didn't have quite the right EF, so I embossed it with my star stencil. I like the very faint look of the stars on the background. This sweet Bear with a Flag (hey, good for Friday's challenge!) was a digi from Craftin Desert Divas. I printed him out right along with this great sentiment that I had gotten from Designbundles.net. In order to cut them both out together, I drew an outline around them and put them through my ScanNCut. Normally, I would cut on the inside of the line, but I decided I liked the look of the border and cut on the outside of the line today. And, of course, an occasion such as this calls for glitter--especially on the "Freedom". I had so much fun making this card. I can't wait to see where your cardmaking adventure takes you this week!

Hi Jennifer, I am honored that you were inspired by one of my cards! Very clever to emboss with a stencil in place of an embossing folder - I also like how faint and subtle this came out. The bear image is so cute, and your coloring is excellent. I have a soft spot for the red, white, and blue color combination. I agree with you about having an outline border in this case, it totally works. Great touches of glitter. What a special card for a special occasion! HUGS, Mer
