Hello! It's time for a Watercolor Wednesday! This week Brenda's challenge to us is Daffodils. The artist we are following does a great job explaining as she goes along but unfortunately, I couldn't get it. I hand drew the daffodils twice. Once they were too small and I think they would have been ok but I really messed up the background. The second time I made them large enough but they were just a mess so as my watercolor time was nearing an end, I grabbed an older Sweet N Sassy image. It's a flower in a small block so I used Ink On 3 Fadeout ink and wiped the surrounding square away with my fingers. I stamped the flower twice. This will never be my favorite painting but as always I learned and had a great time painting. What I like about this is the salt worked! I don't always get salt to activate when I try this technique but it did a beautiful job this time. The other thing I liked was that I wasn't heavy-handed with my dark splatters!
I hope you will join us! We love to bring you talented artists to give instruction and tips but please know it's ALWAYS ok to use a stamp or digital image!

I watched the video first thing this morning - and I think you've done a great job with blending the colours and your shading is wonderful. I like your splatters too x

Lovely, Angie with your beautiful daffodils. Wonderful shading and pretty color for the background. Smiled when reading about your first trys...can relate. Really like the flow of your colors. TFS

Your daffodils are beautiful, Angie, and I love the background color. Oh, the salt technique....I meant to use that on a card recently and forgot. Duh! Glad you used it. I admit this wasn't the easiest video but sure was fun working with it. I 'm with you, we are learning new things each week and that is fun.

Just taking the time to try watercoloring and learning is what it is all about! Way to go Angie! You've inspired me to at least try! I love the effect you achieved with your soft watercolor tones.

Lovely blend of colors on your daffs - I need to watch the video again before I start as I had totally spaced out the salt part until I saw your painting. A beautiful tribute to spring, which can't arrive soon enough for me!
