This double card view is for you, Angie :0)
I enjoyed watching today's watercolor tutorial that showed two different types of paper. I used the same paper that I always use--Fabriano Hot Press. It's the best one with my Spectrum Aqua markers. But I made my two cards with two slightly different methods with my markers. The top one is marker directly to paper for the yellow sky and the mountains at the very bottom. And for the bottom one I scribbled the markers on my craft mat to make my watercolor palette. I did the purple mountains the same way in both, because I wasn't sure how my direct to paper method would work for it. I like the top one better. What do you think?
My color choices are inspired by the MFT Color Challenge 159 because I thought this cute penguin in his hot air balloon would look good flying over.
I wish I had paid more attention to the shape of the mountains in the video. I didn't quite get that bowl shape to the front mountains, but maybe because my perspective is high up with the hot air balloon, I'm better off with the shape that I have.
Anyway, thanks for the fun challenge, Ang!

These are both great and a fun balloon scene, also. Glad you told us how you did each one. My front mountain didn't get much of a bowl shape but I may do some more and "bowl"
it next time.

Pretty scene with your flying penguin in the hot air balloon, I love how you've used the different methods to create the different colors, I prefer the one on top

Very artistic mind to make this bg for your fun penguin and balloon. Love it. Thanks for the comparison and explanation on both of them. I never had a good result with putting the marker right to the paper. Worked better when scribbling and taking the medium from my craft mat. Maybe because had more control. Learning new ways and mediums is so fun. Glad you came to play this week, Jen. TFS

Both methods gave you wonderful results, but the top one is more vibrant, so that's the one I like Best. I like the title you gave these cards because that's what they are, and so American. Really cute penguin in the hot air balloon~

You are a doll for letting me see two different ways to use the markers! Both are fabulous! I love how there aren't marker lines on either painting! Super cute angling of your balloon! Thanks for sharing both cards!

I think I tend to like the top one best with the deeper tones but both have their merits. Your balloonist looks happy to be flying overhead enjoying the view below!

Well, your ballooning penguin steals the show on both cards and the bgs are also great on both cards; but, I prefer the top card because I, too, love the more vibrant colors. Adorable card. And I LOVE that you painted your mountains majestic purple. Super fun and super cute.
