As a Child, I was always fascinated by my grandma's Blue hydrangea's. At that point in my life they were the ONLY blue flowers I had ever seen. I later learned she forced them to that color by adding aluminum sulfate to the soil. They did still always have a tinge of pink to them . . . .
I didn't have any bg stamps like in the video but hydrangea's are made up of oodles of tiny layered flowers . I started with a wash of pale blue over the entire card followed by a pale green wash over the leaves. I did 4 colors of blue plus the pale pink highlights on the flower. There are 3 shades of green over the leaves plus a bit of brown & midnight blue. This would have been MUCH easier with large flowers but hopefully I captured the spirit of the challenge with these itty bitty blossoms.

Like your thinking about the hydrangea for a good choice for this technique. You captured the look by adding the layers of colors. Adding the pink makes it realistic..this is my style. Your soft bg looks great. Glad to see you this week, I know you were busy with your dirty girl cards.

What a brilliant idea to use this hydrangea stamp, Linda. I don't like coloring hydrangeas but I think I would like this technique for them. I will keep that in mind for next time I do hydrangeas. I love hydrangeas too. But we have acidic soil here. Some people add like to their soil to get their hydrangeas pink but I love the blue!
Oh, I would say you captured more than the spirit of the challenge! That would be hard to do with little flowers but you did it beautifully! This is gorgeous and very life-like with the pink centers and different tones of blue!

I did not think of using a hydrangea. You're a smart girl. Good job getting all the colors in and those pinks are really popping out. How wonderful you could think of your grandmother as you made this awesome card.
