This is hand-stitched card #7 of about 50 that I made, although I have previously uploaded 3 cards, plus I did not take photos of a few that I made and quickly sent off to a few very special friends in the US, and I wish that I had photographed those. So, the total number of cards that will be uploaded from that project will likely be closer to 47 than 50. I have since made a few cards, and I have started doing some stitching again, so that I can make some cards to send out that are overdue and to actually have a few on hand when I need and want to send one.
All of the patterns that I have uploaded and color combinations have been my own. I have made 2 hand-stitched pieces that I made into cards that I copied the patterns, if I upload those, I will acknowledge my source.
When I started putting the hand-stitched pieces together onto actual cards, I decided that I would use all of the hand-stitched pieces, from my very early hand-stitching attempts, so you will see some that are clearly show more stitching flaws than others. Also, I was learning to try to create simple patterns, plus I was working with the embroidery yarn that I could find, and I was looking to create color combinations that hopefully worked together. I can see that I am learning and hopefully growing in that area and in creating patterns, but I do feel that I need to learn more stitches that I can incorporate into patterns.
This card utilizes one of the earlier stitched pieces that I tried. I simply used the basic cross-stitch stitch for most of it, trying to create a rainbow design. In a few of the earlier pieces, I also used some sequins, in this case, I used some purple sequins to match the purple thread, which I attached with a knot stitch. I want to do more of this in what I am stitching presently, and see what I can create... The sequins with the knots add a neat texture, plus some light and shine from the sequins themselves.
I tried to match the red stitches with the best red cardstock that I have, and I believe that this is a Stampin' Up cardstock, but I am not certain. Most of my earliest colored cardstock was Stampin' Up, but I also have a number of colors from Gina K Designs which I love. It's heavier than SU, but I like both, and I have some from other manufacturers, but mainly have colored cardstock from those two brands. I used a knitting embossing folder for this card.
If anyone ever has specific questions about a product that I have used, like a specific die, embossing folder, or cardstock, etc, feel free to ask, and I will do my best to get an answer for you. Because I was creating such a giant set to take on a plane from Ontario to New Brunswick, Canada (I carried them in my carry-on, I was not going to lose 18 months of work on these, to not be able to give these to my Mom!), I was under a giant deadline to finish the cards, and I didn't even photograph them until I was in NB a couple of days before I gave them to my Mom. Normally, I am uploading a card fairly soon after I have made it, but because I had made so many, I didn't think to record the specific colored cardstock I used to emboss and mat the hand-stitched piece, nor did I record which dies I used, nor the embossing folders, but I could figure out most if anyone wanted specific information.
When I am able to get back to other types of cardmaking again, likely most will be made after I have finished reorganizing and purging some supplies, although I need to make 2 special cards for my nephew in the next week, his 18th birthday plus his H S graduation cards.
Thank you so very much for stopping by to take a look at my card!!! When you take the time and the trouble to leave a comment, it's a huge thrill for me!

Oh my, Joanne! This is a gorgeous card, and I'm sure all the cards you made were stunning and that your dear friends have loved receiving them! Such a huge labor of love goes into each one, and I love the rainbow with the die-cut on top. It's stunning! Thank you so much for leaving such a wonderful comment on my card after all this time being away. I've missed you all, and I know you certainly appreciate what it's like to endure pain and suffering. But God is gracious and always is there with us to give us the strength to keep going. And He uses it to shape us and to glorify Himself. Praise God for His love and care and mercy for us! Send warm and tender hugs and love! xoxo
