I made this card for two challenges: this week's Mixability challenge and Ways To Use It challenge. Dina is our hostess for the Mixability challenge and she has chosen a terrific theme of "Keep Your Distance" which made me smile when I read it. What a neat way to have fun with this! As soon as I read the theme for this challenge, I was reminded of this card that Catherine (cdimick) made: Floral Thanks by cdimick at Splitcoaststampers. I just adore this card Catherine made; however, I do not have Catherine's water coloring skills. Then I remembered that I have an Altenew layering stamp set that has a watercolor look to it so then I was good to go.
Toni is the hostess for this week's Ways To Use It challenge and she has chosen a wonderful theme of using Purple on our cards. I just adore the color purple so that made it very easy to select the colors for this card. Nice!
I started with a panel of white card stock cut slightly smaller than A2 size. I took Tim Holtz inks in Salty Ocean and Tumbled glass and pressed them into my craft mat, then sprayed generously with water. I smooshed my cardstock into the wet ink and just kept pressing the cardstock into the ink until I was satisfied with the result. Then set this piece aside to dry.
Once dry, I started stamping the blooms. Catherine's card is filled with beautiful blooms, but since the theme is social distancing, I only used 2 blooms on this card and placed them in opposite corners from one another. Because the background piece has color all over it, I stamped the base layers of the flowers and leaves in white dye ink so my colors sit on top of the white ink and are more true to color. White pigment ink actually works better, but my white pigment ink pad is dry and my reinker is empty so that is why I used white dye ink. Stamped the base layers in white, let dry for a couple of minutes, then stamp the base layers again using the lightest color of ink. I double and triple stamped each layer I did to get good coverage. I took some creative license and added more layers to the flowers than what the coloring guide shows, and I was glad I did this. Once the flowers and leaves were all stamped, then I stamped the sentiment in black ink. Added gold and black splatters to the card panel using gold and black glitter paint. A large blob of black paint ended up on the sentiment so I added more water to the paint to thin it down a bit.
Die cut the blue frame using 2 different sized rectangle dies. Then ran the frame through a wood grain embossing folder just like Catherine did with her card. I would never have thought to do this, and I just love how the frame looks with these blooms.
Thank you Dina and Toni for the fantastic challenges this week, thank you Catherine for the amazing inspiration and thank you for looking today! ~Karen.

Well, it's official, your mojo has returned! Loving that smooshed background. Even your sentiment is a social distancing statement! Love the shades of purple. The turquoise is something I would not have thought to pair this with and it looks fantastic!
