This is for my BIL Lambert who's in Hospice Care at home and how this creation came to life telling a bit of his life story....
There is this island in the middle of the sea off Oahu in Kaneohe called K Bay or better known as Kaneohe Bay, Which My Hubby's Ohana were the caretakers of for many many years until Mr Pauly passed and his wife decided to sell the island. This island is very famous in its own rights. Presidents have spent vacations on it and many may not know ,but the show "Gillian's Island" intro and ending filmed photo is of this wonderful Island that my hubby and family grow up spending many days of their life enjoying right down to our children, and even Lambert more so. He later moved with his aunt there and also became a caretaker of the island, and that is where he met his wife Kathy who's mom was a seasonal help to our aunt Pailolo .After the sale of the island they all sadly had to move off coconut Island. And now it's mostly used by the Hawaii University for marine life and ocean studies . Lambert has a love for everything ocean because most of his life he spent by the sea and on and in the ocean doing diving ,Hukilauing, swimming, snorkeling, bodysurfing and even lost at sea when he took a job on a boat going fishing. Yes he was on the news a few times. Lost at sea and also after his first leg was amputated and he went home the neighbors kids were playing with matches and burned the building down. So Lambert ,Kathy ,and their daughter Ressie has had some life journey.....so as for this creation I had made a few bkg pieces experimenting with this new technique in FF17 called Dendritic. I had these four piece and as I made the original intended card it took a more girly shape tho it would still be a nice card for him , to the side was this piece that for some reason the more I worked on the 1st creation this one to the side kept nagging at me then as I looked at it I saw what looks like a Island at first what came to mind was Diamond Head but not exactly so I looked at it and saw how it had like a sea pool made by the sea and it reminded me of the ocean pool on coconut island that we spent so many years enjoying. And as I looked more I saw in the center front were also lil ponds made by the sea just like coconut island so I added the coconut trees and gave him coconut island clone . With another piece of my made bkgs I cut me more Hono's . Hawaiian for aka turtles. And the lovely pearl like Robin eggs I just love and received from Ms LuvLee as my Prize for a card of mine winning Queen box#1 For DEC17VSN Game Night. I also sponged a sunset the ocean and colored in the dendritic pieces of Hono with color pencils. So I hope this card will bring him back to the wonderful days where his life with Kathy began and all the joys spent on a special island in the middle of the bay over in Kaneohe even tho he originally lived and came from the west side called Nanakuli along the Waianae coast.
Enjoy!! Mahalo in advance for peeking in and for the loving left which are greatly appreciated.
This will go to the Tuesday Teapot dedicated to him and Kathy as well as 2 other challenges

Your card is truly incredible Victoria- and gorgeous. Your ocean scene with the turtles is really beautiful. Then this island looks like it is rising up out of the ocean so naturally and your sunset highlights the whole card so magically. The story of this card's creation and who it is for is really meaningful and touching Victoria and I thank you for sharing this with us. My heart, thoughts and prayers are with your dear family during this difficult time. Hugs! Love, Karen.

Loved your story and getting a bit of knowledge on the Islands---love learning of different places as cook22 explained so much to me on her place where she lives was nice learning experience. Your card is so great---love the sea turtles---they are so majestic in their own way and not sure if true heard once they are good luck to those who see them--will be keeping that thought in my mind---your background is neat, all of you will be in my prayers at night.----Hugs & Love--- thanks for sharing your story!!!!!

I can tell by reading your story that Lambert holds a special place in your heart. You've created such a lovely memory for him in the form of this card. Wonderful job capturing the essence of Coconut Island - those turtles look awesome - such dimension...just like they're swimming off the card!

Oh my goodness - those turtles are magnificent! We once stayed on one of the Greek islands where they breed, but we were too late to see them :-(. The dendritic background works fabulously as a background for them. Thanks for all the interesting information about Lambert, the island and the family connection, too.
