I made this card for today's Color Challenge. Mary chose Sweet Chocolate Macaron for Sweet Sugarplum, Chocolate Chip and Mint Macaron- yum! Dessert is to use something new which is this gorgeous vintage roses dsp. The only true color i have is the chocolate chip so I substituted mellow moss and the dsp for the sweet sugarplum. I have an enormous stash of dsp that I am terrified of cutting into so I have started off 2018 determined to use more dsp. The hills and leaves were cut from very vanilla cs, then sponged with mellow moss and some chocolate chip on the ground. Last summer, we had a flower grow up out of a craggy patch of dirt that was in full sun and got no water at all. The flower had a huge red bloom on it and the stem was tall and very under proportioned for the size of the flower, but it never broke off. This flower bloomed for almost 2 months! So, I made this flower in honor of that flower. I punched 3 layers for the flower using spirelli punches and I used brown dmc floss to do the spirelli on each of the 3 layers. I found a cute little butterfly in my stash that looks great on this card so I will add that whenever I send this card to someone. Thanks for looking today. ~Karen.

How beautiful! Your hills in the foreground, and the flower itself, make me think of crewel embroidery. Especially with those muted vintage-look colours. It must have been quite intricate doing the Spirelli on those dies but it looks super.

How creative to use the spirelli technique with your beautiful flower. The one you had must have been extraordinary!!

Oh my word, how delightful to see this posting. I would never have thought to use the dsp to make this glorious flower. So creative to honor the flower in your garden! Your colors are dreamy as are your sponged stitched hills. The brown floss you used is quite wonderful on this. Well done on the color challenge this week, with this beauty! Into my faves.
