This is an unfinished ruler with no coating. Use Staz On Ink so it doesn't smear. Pencils cannot be watercolor because if you use water it will bleed into the wood. Naturally watercolors will not work either. Not sure about the markers.

My other ruler is shown under Benniesma listing. I am her customer and did that ruler too. Was wondering if you could get these at AC Moore or Michael's. Does anyone know? The ones I have were bought years ago. I am checking to see who else has them. I think they would be a very useful gift item for really anyone don't you?

I just did some rulers and now I need to do some more with the chairs. This one is great. Use nail polish remover to take the logo name off and stamp from there. Just be careful not to accidently rub off the numbers and markings.

Great idea! I think I have two or three sets like this, with the string of items. I have to look through mine and figure out which one to try.
You said not to use watercolor pencils, but I'm wondering what you did use. Is it prismacolor?
