When I was on holidays I treated myself, with some saved Christmas money, to the most beautiful box of artists' pigments. We visited a trail that goes through an old ochre quarry, so there were plenty of gorgeous earth tones and also some bright vivid colours, and some pastels. I couldn't choose, so I ended up buying the second-largest set, and am looking forward to playing with them, as they can also be used with acrylics and to create patina finishes.
For this card, I simply used them as watercolours; image stamped on watercolour paper, I coloured the beaks with pencils and then coloured the background. I found the spatter mesh which I have had for so long that - gulp - I had quite forgotten what it was even called! DH thought I'd spattered it myself with paint, I had to disillusion him. After adding the mesh and image to the card base, I edged the base with a silver gel pen and added a Liquid Pearl border to add definition to the mesh. To finish, I added a button and silver cording.
I'll have a blog post on Monday with a photo of the whole box of colours ~ Here's the link.

I'm just going through the art neko gallery and I have to apologize, I didn't recognize both your images are art neko. I need this one. It's a beautiful image w/your new paints.
