I love this stamp from Art Neko - it reminds me of an old Japanese print of an owl (complete with text) which I believe was in my father's nursery when he was a child, and which used to hang behind the bed in the guest room in my parents' last house.
I thought that wrinkle-free distress would pick up on the aged look of that print, so I made that and then stamped the owl. I masked him off and reverse-masked a moon with a punched circle - first I used some luster rub-ons from Craft-T, and then because it wasn't shimmery enough for me, I dusted it with one of the interference colours of Perfect Pearl. The owl was coloured a little with pencils. I tore the page to size and then went looking for some paper I know I used to have, which was a small calligraphic print. I guess I must have used it all up because I couldn't find it anywhere, but I thought this marbled paper gave a good feeling of a night sky, so I stitched the owl panel to it and added it to a black base. To pick up on the machine stitching, I embossed stitches along the bottom. And since it still looked a little bare, I added a Spellbinders feather.
