Today's CAS and TLC challenges inspired me to try making another "quilt" card. Partly because my grandmother was a real craftswoman - knitting, sewing, quilting, embroidery - she was never idle. And also because I've always meant to try another quilt card. I only ever made one:
I did that one a few years ago and was never that happy with my choice of papers, and I didn't like having the sentiment cover so much of it, and it was a bit sloppy with gaps between the pieces of dp.
I'm much happier with this version - love these two patterned papers together, and I did a better job of placing the pieces. I also prefer my smaller sentiment. I stamped it on a tiny tag and attached it with a bit of twine and an old button - both of which make me think of my grandmother as, having gone through the war in England, she saved all her old buttons and bits of string!
Thanks to the CAS challenge for making me think of my grandmother - she died quite a while ago at the ripe old age of 101 so I have many memories of her over many years.

This is absolutely beautiful Susan!! When thinking about the CAS challenge of something to keep me warm, I thought of a quilt as well. I am not a real quilt maker nor a paper one. Yours is stunning. It's so nice that your grandmother left you with all of those sweet memories. You were blessed to have her for all of those years. I like the embossing from underneath and the threads on top. Great job for both challenges. You should be very proud of yourself.

Very nice! I love quilts, whether the keep you warm in winter kind or the paper kind. I think you did a fabulous job on this! I have never tried to do without a quilt die, so I am in awe of how nice you have done it.

Fantastic! I LOVE quilts and your grandmother sounds like a very special lady! What a beautiful job you did piecing this and it's not always easy to cut so precisely! Yours is perfect. The embossing over it looks terrific. And how come my old buttons don't look as good as yours??

I love what you have done Susan. The paper choices for your Star Patch are perfect as is the embossing representing the free-motion quilting, which in your Grandmother's day would have been hand done! A wonderful tribute to your talented Grandmother. Thank you for joining us in the CAS challenge.
