This is my tag-shaped card for Holly's HYCCT1524 challenge "Thanks Bunches" - to make a thank you card with bunches of something on it. There are bunches of flowers on the designer paper.
The basics of creating a camouflaged die cut can be seen in YouTube video. I searched for a tutorial on Splitcoast; if there is one I missed it.
I cut the designer paper into a tag shape and die cut the "thanks" out of it before adhering it to a folded card base, 1/8 inch from the top fold. The word die was cut four times from 110lb white cs and layered together using Ranger Multi Medium matte before adding the dp layer on top. This faux chipboard piece was adhered into the negative space and weighted down with an acrylic stamp block to be sure everything was firmly adhered.
I used the Perfect Layers tools and a sharp craft knife to trim around the designer paper tag before punching a hole in the top. I scored a fold line on the inside of the card slightly below the hole and the applied double sided tape to the area ABOVE the fold line, then closed the card. This enables the recipient to fully open the card without putting stress on the ribbon embellishment. I tied a bow and attached it to the tag by looping an additional piece of ribbon through the hole and catching the bow under the loop. From the back, I applied Glossy Accents to the bow knot. The legs of the brad were threaded through the hole, flattened, trimmed (they were too long), and covered with Glossy Accents to keep them in place. I glued the ends of the loop to the back of the card to hold them in position. This all sounds complicated, but it's actually pretty simple.
As always, thanks for looking!
