It's Day 2 of Dare to Get Dirty 2015 & this is for my challenge! For all the details go to the DTGD Forum ..but you'll need to be a Fan Club member. It's sooooo easy, so take the DARE!
I had a lot of fun making this card. It's just my style..fun, enough detail to keep me interested, a little coloring, a little fussy cutting & colorful! I started with the bg. After masking off the water area, I sponged in the very orange sky using a cloud stencil I made w/ scallop scissors on a piece of acetate. The little seagulls were stamped & I used a white gel pen on the big one. The mask was reversed to cover the sky then I sponged in the water & added the highlights. I added just a touch of sand color at the very bottom.
The palm tree is actually part of the frame & I used a technique I call "into the window" (I did a short, 3 pic tutorial on my blog showing how I did this). This frame is elevated above the bg & the surfboards were colored, fussy cut and attached to the frame.
Thanks so much for looking! Closeups, a short tutorial, the inside & Copic colors are on my blog & I'd love for you check it out. The Write Stuff

Oh my! Those surfboards are fantastic and the bright colors scream off the screen even in thumbnail size. What a wonderful beach card Julie! I love it!

OMGosh Julie, this is amazing! I LOVE those surf boards...did I ever tell you I was born and raised in Manhattan Beach in the south bay. My bro-in-law made surfboards (had his own shop). Well, that was like a lifetime ago (about 45 years). Brings back wonderful memories though!
