This is my card for the MMTPT347 challenge "Whykickamoocow Meets the Wild, Wild West". Our cards this week should feature artifacts, lassos, dream catchers, log cabins; pictures of trading posts, cowboys and Indians, horses, boots....bring a touch of the wild, wild, west to Gene, who loves Louis L'Amour books and is a published author in his own right.
The only thing I own that is even remotely Western is this paper from My Mind's Eye. SInce it's actually 12 x 12, I scanned the corner with the cowboy and resized it in Photoshop before printing it out on medium weight cs. I sponged the edges with Distress Antique Linen, Old Paper, and Pumice Stone inks, lightly distressed the edges and matted it with a piece of black cs. I distressed those edges and attached the layer to a matching craft foam die cut.
I crated a flap-fold card base from Crumb Cake cs and heavily sponged the right edge with Pumice Stone ink. I stamped a piece of the same cs with the bookshelves stamp, also using Pumice STone ink, and cut it it to size. It was attached to the card base with Sookwang tape and the focal image added. You can't see it in the photo but I scored the small flap vertically every quarter inch for added interest.
As always, thanks for looking!

Wow, this is really a super cowboy card. Love the muted colors and it's great that you were able to resize the image. this is really spectacular and Gene should take great delight in finding it in his mailbox.

How clever to scan the scrapbook paper! You make me want to take another look in my stash and do some sizing! This is fantastic and love the flap fold you created. This is SO perfect for him!

Now THIS card should be right up Gene's alley if he loves Louis L'Amour! Your thought processes to scan and resize an image on DP to use on your card, and then to make it a "flap" card (kind of sounds pretty masculine, don't you think?) was really a fabulous idea!! I know Gene is going to appreciate the teapotter's cards, especially yours, with the 'tough guy' image, because it seems he is not only a gentle soul, but a tough player!

Great card! Image turned out perfect, love the book bkgrd paper in reference to my Uncle's books. The card design is cool and I can see the horizontal scoring which adds a nice touch. THANKS for making a card for my Uncle Gene! He will appreciate it!

Oh my gosh Jody, this is pure genius!!! I have the MME paper in 6 x 6 paper pad and it doesn't look anywhere near as great as this. You are sure to bring lots of smiles to Gabby's uncle. I love the layout...another Jody Original to add to My Favs.
