IÂ’m excited that our featured stamper (FS419) this week is Cathy aka corysnana1. Cathy is a very talented card-maker (her coloring skills are amazing), who also happens to be my good friend, as well as the person who introduced me to card making! I had no idea at the time that it would become such a satisfying (and addicting) hobby, but I am so grateful that she opened the door for me. So, it is with great pleasure that I take inspiration from one of her cards this week. This is the card that inspired me: Watercolored Sympathy by corysnana1 at Splitcoaststampers
I kept the concept of pastel flowers on an embossed, mostly-white background, but changed the orientation, flowers, and embossing. I colored the stamp with markers first and then used the “huffing” method of ensuring that the ink was wet before I stamped it (it’s all one stamp). Then I embossed the border, adding 2 vertical score lines where the embossing meets the plain cs to create a cleaner line. Added stickles for some sparkle and the sentiment. The sparkles look so pretty IRL.
IÂ’m also linking to our color challenge this week (CC51. I used cantaloupe, pistachio, daffodil, but subbed bashful blue for the cabana because I didnÂ’t think I had that marker (but of course I found it later on!).
Congrats Cathy, and enjoy your week in the spotlight, my friend!

This is gorgeous Maura!! I think that you have done your friend Cathy proud!! I have noticed quite a bit of your work lately and you are a phenomenal stamper. I admire how you take on so many different techniques. Your flowers with the soft colors and stickles are truly beautiful. Awesome job for both challenges!! :>)

OMGoodness, I never realized your name is Maura! How fun that you are participating in a good friend's FS gallery! Very cool. You've really gone outside the box with mixed media. I applaud your creativity. This is such a great card. Exceptionally creative and astonishingly elegant.

Oh my! Your marker to stamp technique is amazing! You picked a great stamp to do this with. It looks like painting. The addition of the stickles really makes this special. The stamping alone would make this a wonderful card but your embossed panel and ribbon sets it to a higher level for sure! I love this card! (can't your tell?) :-)

Another gorgeous card, Maura! I love the way you adapted the original card and made it your own. It's beautiful (as always!) and the way you used the colors from the color challenge is so pretty. Love the way you places the ribbon the the striped embossing folder. Always a little bling, my friend! One of your signature moves. Thank you so very much for the sweet words and playing along this week. I love that we can share this addiction together and we have each taken different paths in the creative process. You are a gem and I admire your card style. Hugs, Cathy
