I saw a pin on pinterest for creating an art project with children using craft tissue. I adapted the technique and used it to make a series of Valentine cards. You must use "bleeding" tissue paper. Wrapping tissue will not bleed. Michael's and Hobby lobby sells craft tissues that will bleed. I used my heart punch to punch different coordinating colors from the tissue. For the base, I tried various white cardstocks--watercolor paper, whisper white, and mixed media paper. I used a paintbrush to lightly wet the white cardstock and then placed my tissue hearts. Then the fun begins. If you just let them dry, you get a more defined heart. If you spray the tops with water or add more with the paintbrush, you get a more watercolor type effect. Lifting them early, before they are dry, gives you a whole different effect. It was great fun. I really liked the whisper white best of all for this technique. After the backgrounds dried, I ironed them flat and then embellished by sponging and spraying and stamping, and blobbing, and splattering. Really fun!

I love the way the hearts bled into each other on this one and made two-toned hearts. I also love that great stamp of circles with hearts in the middle. Perfect choice for this card!

Well look who's in the gallery tonight? Hope you are well Jean. I've never heard of that tissue paper. I love what you were able to do to create such an artistic card. Lovin' this for sure.
