Cathy has given us a fun Ways to Use it Challenge - Make it with Metal.
This is another one of those cards that took forever to get make. I made this using a special self adhesive silver roofing tape - 50 yards 3" wide all for $18....sounds good so far..unfortunately it has a special coating on it and nothing, absolutely nothing, will stay on it. After embossing the foil I tried to colour it with alcohol refiller, alcohol blending fluid, copics. Everything I tried just formed little wet beads, using a baby wipe I cleaned everything off. Next cab of the rank was StazOn ink followed by distress inks, distress refills, black acrylic paint. I even tried shoe polish.
In desperation I lightly sandpapered the foil then painted more black acrylic on, gently wiped it off so that the paint would at least stay around rivet areas. I dabbed on a little copper coloured Brilliance ink. I coloured the twine by pulling it through the dirty inky baby wipes.
I have tried using my heat gun on this, but so far nothing is holding the ink/paint in place. I am going to give this another try using my trusty old kitchen alfoil. At least you can see the concept. The image is stamped on acetate, it is held in place by a couple of spots of glue under the car.
Thanks for looking ladies.

My favorite embossing folder and one of my favorite techniques! Let me congratulate you being so creative to get this to work! You think of things that would never have crossed my mind! Love the way you colored that twine.
Aluminum foil does work great for this. Love that truck and haven't seen that one before! This is such a fun, masculine card!

Susie, this is an amazing card...I would not redo it. I think that you worked so long at the card that you are mad at it, so no matter how tertific it looks you can't be happy with it. The truck on the acetate looks wonderful. Super great card my friend.

FABULOUS card and totally worth your trouble! Your embossed foil, design and the acetate image/sentiment looks great. I have a lot of Tim's stamps and I love 'em all. I am having a hard time getting any ink to even stay on foil. Had a card design in mind but decided to "test" my solvent (Stazon) ink on the foil b4 I made it. I could not believe even with heat, the ink would not stay on. What? Sounds like you tried alcohol inks and they didn't work either. What? Both the solvent and alcohol inks are supposed to work so what's up with them? When you figure out what REALLY works, please let me know. Thanks sweet Susie. xx

I love this card, it is a perfect masculine card. I worried about the ink sticking to the foil when I did mine which is why I used glue first. It is still on the card, I have touched it, and it was stacked under other cards for the night, so it seems to have worked. Anyway, delightful card. tfs

Well, I wouldn't have known that the image was stamped on acetate, I thought you'd done a fabulous job stamping on the tape. I guess it sounds perfect for roofing if it's that resistant to everything you threw at it.
