Sheri and Karen (redbugdriver) have given us a fun mission this week and that is to bring some smiles and laughter to fellow SCSr Pam aka bailmac.
Myrtle and Harry heard that Pam is recouperating following recent surgery. Having just retired from the Royal Flying Doctors, Mrytle and Harry thought they could fly over and check in on Pam. As you can see they are flying over shark infested waters and very rough sea. The trip is expected to take about 3 weeks unless they get held up in quarantine!!
The background was created by dragging the watercolour paper through a big puddle of very watered down acrylic paint, then I quickly threw on a handful of cous cous on the bottom half. Experience has taught me not to use a heatgun to speed up the drying process. I prepared this background last night so it has had a good 12 hours of drying time. I keep the cous cous in a container and reuse it over and over.
Myrtle, Harry and their seaplane were stamped on watercolour paper then coloured with distress inks, then fussy cut. I put little blobs of clear glue that dries shiny on the sea to look like water.
I hope by the time Pam recieves this she will be up and about and making more of her lovely cards. Thank you for looking.

And cous cous...I don't have any..would plain white rice work as well?? I'm too impatient to let something dry 12 hours....were you watching it the whole time?

That image is SO fun! Gotta love Myrtle. I love how you created a clear distinction between sea and sky! You do have fun ways for your backgrounds and I love learning from you. Love those earrings on her as well as the shark infested water. Pam will LOVE this!

What a CUTE card for Pam! Your shark infested waters look great. I was surprised to read you used cous cous ... hmm. I thought it was salt on ink or water splashes on distress ink. Regardless, it looks great. Like your plane and Myrtle and Harry. Great job coloring it. Your white doodle border looks good, too.

Oh, what fun, Susie! Having the little propller off the edge of the blue panel really adds to the sense of movement. It looks as if they are flying very low under the radar, so I expect they need to worry about the sharks (love them!!) more than quarantine.

I like that it looks like it has a shaft of light hi-lighting your plane! Such a clever girl in the construction of this very fun and fanciful card... Great coloring, cool shark fins and LOVE how you did the sentiment. Genius card Susie...she will really LOVE this!

I don't like the chances of Myrtle and Harry not crashing into that shark infested water - they look a little low in the air - wishing them all the luck! See what they caught at Bondi Beach? Great accompanying story - as always such a laugh.
