Our lovely Mary gave us a super fun tickle challenge this week.....bring pumpkins to the teaparty. Here are two of the biggest pumpkins that would fit on a card.
Clara and Claude both started out life as Sassy Cheryl digi images. After sustaining a minor leg injury, Clara has mastered standing one footed on a pumpkin but as you can see by the scar of Claudes bruised face, he is yet to acquire this skill. This brings back memories, I got my first broken arm trying to balance on a beach ball LOL.
This was supposed to be a stairstep card, but I had a little misphap with the embossing process - I touched it before it had melted properly. After attending to the burn on my hand and picking bits of melted embossing powder from my skin, I had to rethink this card. Not to worry, there was one large section that was still OK, so I turned this into a centre step card and used the sky for the centre panel and the damaged part on each side.
I had a heap of fun colouring this card. The face and hair was done with Copics, I also used a light umber Prismacolour pencil in the hair. The kids clothing and the pumpkins were all coloured with distress inks and an aqua pen. On a sheet of aluminium foil, smack distress ink pads of all the colours onto al foil, leaving about 2" in between each colour. Squirt a tiny amount of water in one corner of each colour. Clara looks like she has a pink t-shirt, socks and trim on her cardie - it is actually the same red as her cardigan and Claudes jumper. The watered edge of each ink blob is very light. It is the same with the blue. The sky and kids clothes are all the same blue ink, it is just the water that changes the shade.
Many of you know that I use kitchen aluminium foil instead of a craft mat, mainly for the convenience and clean up, but also it helps with distress ink colouring. On the tan coloured craft mat the colours don't look "true" like they do on foil.
The entire background was done with the smack and squirt technique (smack distress ink pad onto aluminium foil and squirt with a LOT of water) using blending tool and sponge, swish over the embossed reeds. Flick extra water over the sky area.
I fussy cut the kids and pumpkins (use a dauber and black distress ink around all edges to disguise any bad fussy cutting) and stuck them on the card and added a fence. Job done. I am so glad this is going to a Teapotter. Have a great week everyone.

Love this. Kids do enjoy climbing around on pumpkins.
Hope your hand is OK. Embossing powder gets surprisingly hot...
And I'm so glad to know the foil trick -- I don't have a craft mat so just skip trying any techniques that say to start with one.

Scorched fingers and embossing powder scars aside - this turned into a wonderful card. I love the story that goes with it too. Love how you can turn a disaster into a positive on one quick turn.

Oh Susie, your stories always make me laugh but not at your poor burned skin, Ouch! That hurts!!! I got hot glue stuck to my thumb one night and thought to myself as it kept burning all night, "How do burn victims even survive" it is the most painful thing!
Well, your card miss Susie, I would love to get a card like this so I certainly wouldn't worry about any mishaps...I don't see a thing wrong but everything RIGHT about this card!!! You are funtastic my friend!!

Absolute ADORABLE card, Susie! Clara and Claude are fabulously mastered, along with your pumpkins. Fantastic bkgrd, too. LOVE it! Hope your skin grows back soon. Hee?? Thanks for sharing the techs you used. I CANNOT believe you tried to balance on a beach ball. You were a crazy kid, weren't you? What did you mean your "FIRST" broken arm? How many have there been? Hee?? Luv ya.

Susie, this card came out too cute. I wonder if I stare at it long and hard, if maybe I'll be the lucky one to receive this card. Love your coloring and how you always recover and transform your cards into works of art. " You don't make a mistake, you just find another way of doing it". Great card, into my favorites where it will be safe and sound.

Susie, this is simply beautiful. And even with the changing it around it still is stunning. I am so sorry to hear you got burned. I do hope you are healing quickly. I simply love what appears to be a storm rolling in in the background...or that is what I am seeing when I look at it. I am amazed at your coloring on all your cards.
