Our lovely Mary gave us a super fun tickle challenge this week.....bring pumpkins to the teaparty. Here are two of the biggest pumpkins that would fit on a card.
Clara and Claude both started out life as Sassy Cheryl digi images. After sustaining a minor leg injury, Clara has mastered standing one footed on a pumpkin but as you can see by the scar of Claudes bruised face, he is yet to acquire this skill. This brings back memories, I got my first broken arm trying to balance on a beach ball LOL.
This was supposed to be a stairstep card, but I had a little misphap with the embossing process - I touched it before it had melted properly. After attending to the burn on my hand and picking bits of melted embossing powder from my skin, I had to rethink this card. Not to worry, there was one large section that was still OK, so I turned this into a centre step card and used the sky for the centre panel and the damaged part on each side.
I had a heap of fun colouring this card. The face and hair was done with Copics, I also used a light umber Prismacolour pencil in the hair. The kids clothing and the pumpkins were all coloured with distress inks and an aqua pen. On a sheet of aluminium foil, smack distress ink pads of all the colours onto al foil, leaving about 2" in between each colour. Squirt a tiny amount of water in one corner of each colour. Clara looks like she has a pink t-shirt, socks and trim on her cardie - it is actually the same red as her cardigan and Claudes jumper. The watered edge of each ink blob is very light. It is the same with the blue. The sky and kids clothes are all the same blue ink, it is just the water that changes the shade.
Many of you know that I use kitchen aluminium foil instead of a craft mat, mainly for the convenience and clean up, but also it helps with distress ink colouring. On the tan coloured craft mat the colours don't look "true" like they do on foil.
The entire background was done with the smack and squirt technique (smack distress ink pad onto aluminium foil and squirt with a LOT of water) using blending tool and sponge, swish over the embossed reeds. Flick extra water over the sky area.
I fussy cut the kids and pumpkins (use a dauber and black distress ink around all edges to disguise any bad fussy cutting) and stuck them on the card and added a fence. Job done. I am so glad this is going to a Teapotter. Have a great week everyone.

Susie, I am grateful that your broken arm(s) and burnt hand did not prevent you from making your wonderful card - my goodness, you seem to have had a lot of mishaps in your card making, but then, you always seem to find a way to turn it around and WOW us once more!!
The sky here looks amazing - that smack and squirt with a splash of water after, seems to make quite a good October threatening sky, but Claude and Clara sure son't seem to mind as theyfrolic about in the pumpkin patch! Great coloring - and balancing act by Clara - along with the cute fence and field of huge pumpkins - a class act for sure!
(blushing) I am still at work on my pumpkin tickle card, sad to say - hope to post it later today!

Geez, Susie, I don't know how you do it - you make the most awesome cards out of "mishaps". Four broken arms .... or you broke 1 or 2 arms 4 times? Either way .... OUCH! Your coloring is outstanding! You create the most adorable little people scenes!

I don't know how I missed this, Susie - I thought I had been right through the teapot gallery. I'm glad I came back to look for it, I love the autumnal scene you've created and the beautiful background. Sorry about the burn, though - I know they are painful.

Here is another one that I wish would find it's way to OH-IO!! This is just too cute. And thanks for the idea of using the foil. I'll be it works better than acrylic blocks!
