This is my first attempt at mixed media today & it failed to achieve the look I was after. After painting with pearlescent paint, letting it dry, I applied tape in a criss cross pattern, hoping to get little squarish remains of white acrylic paint. Didn't happen. But I went with this anyway. Two following attempts are in the trash - no pulling them out!! I even tried using a stencil but that was way too much white. I punched some circles & a button to finish it off.

Oh my gosh I LOVE your background, tile or no tile! The beautiful pooling of color is awesome! I do feel your pain from your failed attempts though. My trash can is heaped with watercolor attempts! Beautiful, Karen!
(And no, the floor is not that clean. I think it's because our tired eyes just don't see it!)

Karen this is brilliant!!!, your background looks terrific. Before you do anything else, retrieve your discarded attempts young lady!! Now get out a butterfly or flower punch and keep them for another day. You can also punch them into small circles and make faux buttons. Distress inks always look good sponged on anything that didn't originally work out. Back to your card...I love it. xx

I think it's great! Your masking gives this a unique feel, and I love the pooling of the colors. Using a line-art stamp is really clever here to give the background the attention it deserves. Thanks so much for playing the Mix-ability challenge!
