Penguin Pole for the next Round Robin!! Using SU Candy Cane fabric and coordinating fabrics. Recognize the iceberg?? I enlarged and stretched the one from Cold & Cuddly. This Penguin Pole is not a pattern. It's my design with each penguin measuring about 6" tall. I hope you like it!
I am including 15 boxes of SU Candy Cane fat quarters with my medallion in hopes that most of the quilt shows off this fun group of coordinating fabrics!
What is a Round Robin?? First, a general description of a round robin quilt for those who may not have heard of them. It's a quilt that is made by a group of quilters.
To start, everyone makes a centerpiece block (medallion) for the center. It may be any size between 12 inches and 30 inches Put your centerpiece block (medallion) in a small rolling suitcase with fabrics that you want included in the borders (typically these extra fabrics match the centerpiece block. There can be all kinds of rules for size, color , theme, etc. The suitcases are passed to a team member that will add the first border. After 2 months, the next team member adds a border. This usually continues until there are 5 borders that have been sewn by five different quilters. The quilter who made the center block then gets the quilt top back to keep and finish. We don't get to see our quilts until all the borders had been added. Every two months a deadline date is set and you must be completed by that date. We gather and give the quilt we just added a border to to the next team member in the rotation to had her border.
