This is a page I presented at a home workshop two weeks ago. The guests are avid scrapbookers and I wanted to show them ideas on how to use the fabric on their pages. One flower is a pompom flower, the second one was made with a fabric yoyo and the Tasteful Trims die and the third one uses the retiring adhesive sheets.
The title was stamped using the Spencerian Alphabet Upper and Lower sets. So sad to see this one go so fast! Such a beautiful alpha set...
Flower 1 (bottom left): Fold a 3-in. wide strip of fabric in half and use sticky strip to keep sides together (or sew, if you have a machine). Then, make cuts at regular intervals (about 1/4-in. apart) from the folded edge to the sewn or glued part). Then, roll the base of the strip (where your sewing is) to form your flower and glue the end in place.
Flower 2 (bottom right): die-cut a circle out of sticky sheet glued on a sheet of cardstock. Cut a long strip of ribbon and starting in the center, glue in a spiral, twisting the fabric on itself as your go along to create the rosette. You might have seen this done with ribbon - it works great with fabric, too.
Flower 3 (top right): Create a fabric yo-yo but die-cutting a circle out of fabric (size of your choice - I used the Scallop Circle die for mine). Using thread and a needle, make a running stich all around your circle and then pull on your thread to gather the circle in a little pouch. Flatten it out and add a few stitches to keep in place.
To make the top part of that flower, I cut a Scallop strip out of fabric using the Tasteful Trims die and used the same running stitch at the bottom of it to gather the fabric, then stitched it on top of the yo-yo and added a button to hide the stitches.
