You think tortoise shell is what comes from turtles; maybe so, but this card was my first attempt at faux mother-of-pearl. I made a fishy card based on the sneak peek on Cindy's blog, but I may have to make another card with a strawberry to earn me some extra cookies. This might just be my anniversary card for DH, but if it is I know I have another card in my stash which will do perfectly for Colton - it even has a fish on it.
5 3/4" square base. Base layer made using the Faux Mother of Pearl tutorial in Resources. I think I used Broken China and Worn Lipstick to sponge it.
I stamped it with the turtle and seaweed and coloured them with distress inks. Stamped, coloured and cut out some little fishies and popped them up on foam.
Top layer is dark green paper stuck to thin chipboard and cut with the largest Spellbinders Lacy Squares. I added some starfish along the bottom, and popped the whole layer up on foam.
If strawberries are what we're meant to be bringing, since I don't have one on my card I'll bring a strawberry pavlova and some strawberry icecream. The Irish crop has just come into season and it's delicious after our warm spring.

I think hubby would be tickled to receive it! I love the color you put to those awesome starfish and the contrast of colors from dark to light is just the greatest! What fun this card is! Good job on the fussy cutting those tiny fish!! And I thought mine were hard to do. This underwater scene is fantastic!! I can imagine the mother of pearl really shines IRL!! Beautiful!
