I got this idea from a nurse I know who had purchased individual metal letter pins to spell her name. She wore them on her lab coat. So why not make them out of paper? I made these for a 13 year old's birthday. They each have a tie-tack backing and are mounted through foam-core for presentation.

These are made as any other paper pin. I stamped my letter with Staz-On onto Whisper White CS. Punched out the letter using a 5/8" non-SU punch. Layered the letter onto black CS using CE and trimmed leaving just a bit of a black border. Layered this onto my next color of CS and trimmed leaving a wider border. All this was then layered with CE onto two thicknesses of black CS which had been layered with CE and trimmed leaving just a bit of black border. Then I coated the entire front with CE and when that was thoroughly dry I turned it over and coated the entire back with CE and placed the tie-tack backing in place while the CE was still wet. If you have never made paper pins using CE before, my advice is to be patient and let the CE finishing layers dry completely (12-24 hr) before handling or going on the the next step. I have ruined many a pin by handling it to soon!

Thank you for such quick response! I have not yet attempted any paper pins-- I've admired many in the gallery but have never known quite how to go about doing them myself. Thanks again!
