This card is for the A-card-a-me Awards Challenge aka Tuesday Teapot Party challenge MMTPT134 for Lauren. We’re nominating the best or the worst. So here is a most elegant young starlet, Stella O’scar, reaching for, you guessed it, the stars. She is my nominee for the challenge, but most importantly, to encourage Lauren to do reach for her stars – and take a look. Stella has already caught one just for Lauren.
The base is craft paper that vaguely resembles granite – which will make more sense later. The panels are a silvery grey iridescent CS, dry embossed using the QuickKutz EF Stars. I colored the inside of the outline stars with my Edding 780 gold ink marker. It just didn’t look right, so after it dried completely, I covered the gold with gold glitter using the Studio G glitter writer. I really like the way that came out!
The stamped embellishment was stamped with a stamp I got on eBay. There is no marking of any kind but I have a hunch it could be Beeswax. I used a blue Pretty Color pigment ink pad and heat embossed, using Paper-Art Pearlescent Blue EP. (The pearl doesn’t really come out on the photo and the blue is far more turquoise than in real life – it’s actually a dark teal.) I colored the skin with a pale orange pencil, the dress with red marker, the hair with Stabilo88 fine line marker, and the stars with the same gold ink as above. Cut out the image with a Fiskars template star and matted on heavy gold CS which I adhered to the right panel.
Inside the card is a slightly larger, star shaped gold mat made from the same card stock. On it a star made from reddish paper that has been edged with more Studio G gold glitter writer. In the center of the star is a clip art movie camera that has been covered in gold ink. LaurenÂ’s name is written over the top of the camera. That completes the inside image which, of course is meant to mimic the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Thanks for taking a closer look, reach for the stars and follow your dreams!
