I'm really glad I had some time this afternoon to look through Kathy's gallery, there's just so many beautiful cards to gain inspiration from - I chose this card to case:
I kept the layout but used a white card base, printing the sentiment Bible verse by computer.
I also changed it by not embossing the bg. Instead of a summer scene, I went for a winter one, trying to mask some mountains, though I struggled with them, I have to admit. I grew up in Glennallen, Alaska and every day barring cloud cover, we had Mt. Wrangell, Mt. Drum and Mt. St. Elias in full view, and I was trying to capture those moments when the sun went all pinky orange turning the snow on the mountains a beautiful pink - it was breathtaking, and I sure didn't do it justice with my masking and sponging - but you get the idea! I used my new PTI cloud die for masking the clouds. I added a bit of stickles for frost and snow. In real life these trees would have thick hoar frost or snow layering each branch, so this scene is just after heavy winds, which would blow the branches disappointingly clean!! The main panel is framed in black and then in Melon Mambo, which always looks more like red when I photograph cards. I added sheer ribbon to finish off.

WOWEE! What beauty you have created on a little piece of paper. You truly honor me, my Irish friend, with this. Those pink mountains and Caribbean sky are stunning. I love that you added the shimmer and the trees w bare branches. It's nice to hear about your memories in Alaska and how that inspired you. The little verse is the perfect sentiment. Thanks so much for taking the time to play in the Queen's gallery today.

Wow, what a gorgeous memory you have of watching the sun go down on the mountains with that burst of color - you have captured it ever so perfectly - LOVE that verse with it -
