This is my PAT 16 entry for Group #8, with the color theme of Yellow, Green, & Orange. I decided to do a paper version of mokume gane, a Japanese metalsmithing technique that has been adapted for use in polymer clay work...now I have adapted it for paper!
I started with a vintage dictionary page that I inked with Distress Ink, adhered it to watercolor paper that layered on different shades of orange, green and yellow papers, topping the stack off with another inked dictionary page. I then took a tissue blade (very sharp blade used by pathologists), curved the stack over different objects and made cuts, thus exposing all the layers. I finished it off with some K & Co. embellishments and a button...this was my first attempt at this and I hope to sharpen up my technique. I also hope to avoid cutting my fingers so much with the tissue blade...at one point, I had three bandages on!
