Here is the card I have made for this week's Penny Black Saturday challenge which is to create anything with a beach theme.
Like a few others I struggled with this as I don't have any PB beach themed stamps either so the challenge really forced me to think outside the box!
I used the new 2010 "Daydream" stamp which should have the little girl holding a flower. Thanks to my Martha Stewart Pine Branch punch I improvised and made seaweed! Not perfect I know, but not too disimilar!
The lighthouse and sentiment images were stamped directly onto Cosmo Cricket "Storytime" cloud paper using Memento Rich Cocoa ink.
The sand in the forefront was made from DCWV summer sand effect paper which I tore to create the "dunes" then chalked the edges to tone down the whiteness.
The shells and rocks at the very bottom of the card were made individually using a combination of Joanna Sheen rocks stamp and a shell stamp from the same set as the lighthouse and sentiment stamps which are all in a set called "Down by the seaside" by Inkadinkado. To the bottom I also added more Martha Stewart "seaweed!!!"
Finally, all the stamped images were coloured using a combination of promarkers, watercolour pencils and a tiny touch of stickles glitter glue for the gold buttons on the little girls dress. Last but not least the little girl and seagull were raised onto 3d sticky foam pads to give a bit of dimension.
I can't tell you just how much I enjoyed making this. It really made me see the point of all these challenges (which I have only recently started doing!) by taking me out of my comfort zone and making me look at my stamps in a whole new light!
Thanks soooooo much for stopping by x
PS: I have also entered this into the Simon Says stamp challengehttp://simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/ which asked for a card that includes the colour blue - ie: the little girls dress
