I made this project for Bev's Winter Wonderland DTGD10BevMom2. It also qualifies for Deborah's A Piece Offering DTGD10DeborahLynneS.
When I first saw Bev's title I was instantly drawn to create a snowy Christmas scene with trees and snowmen and lots of white Flower Soft. As I started sorting through my holiday stamps I ran across this Rubbernecker Fireplace Set and decided to create a layered, paper pieced project. Sadly, I couldn't get a good bright picture of this to show the layers of evergreen, fireplace, etc. I love to cut images, even little tiny ones (although hard on my old eyes) if they can layered or popped up to create dimension on a project. The fireplace was stamped twice with black craft ink and embossed with black ep. I painted the stones on one and cut out the opening. I painted the opening of the second fireplace and then mounted the first over it. I stamped the grate and wood twice and embossed with black ep. I used a Versa marker to fill in the grate, embossed with gold and used a craft knife to cut out the holes. I painted the flames and firewood on the second and attached the gold grate over it. The stockings were all stamped with black craft and embossed with black ep and painted. I used Liquid Applique on the top of two of the stockings and they are so fluffy but you can't see it in the pic. I stamped the greenery three times, embossed with black ep, painted and cut out to attach to the top of the fireplace and the framed sentiment. This project took lots of time this morning but it was lots of fun. I could have whipped out three fully decked out snowman cards in the same amount of time but I know this project is going to be just the perfect card for someone special.
