What a disaster! I certainly made today's card more shabby than I intended. This is for CAS67, Shabby Chic.
First, I want to say that recently I've been experimenting with shabby chic / vintage style cards and have been loving it! Second, today I've found that *for me* shabby chic and clean & simple are mutually exclusive!! I just couldn't make this card shabby chic, to a level that I thought worked well and was happy with, and keep it CAS!! Wow, this is hard! So I've added shabby elements (lots of sanding/distressing and ripped/frayed muslin), but I'm not sure this stayed CAS. I think I'd be happier with this if I added more to it, but then it *definitely* would no longer be CAS!! I'm between a rock and a hard place.
To make matters worse, I used Tacky Glue to glue pearls on my fabric flower. A few places had big blobs of glue hanging out, so I figured I'd dry the glue with my heat tool to hurry things along. Bad idea!! This is where my card got unintentionally shabbier!! The heat caused the glue to run more, which picked up ink that I'd sponged on the fabric, so now instead of clear dried glue, I have blue dried glue. MUCH more visible. Then while heating, I must have overdone things, because the fabric started to scorch and the heat warped the entire front of the card. So now this "shabby chic" card looks like it's been through a war!!
Ah, well. Into each stamper's life, a little rain must fall!!

Emily this is gorgeous - I thought the same thing - shabby chic and CAS are mutually exclusive - but you proved that to be incorrect! This is so beautiful no matter what you call it!

A lot of the things you described that went wrong actually made this more of a shabby chic card than ever. I'm with you CAS and shabby chic, that's a tough order, but you have nailed it once again Emzi!! I LOVE this. You're getting really good at the vintage look. Another thing on my list to try more of!! Hugz!
