This is for a few challenges: today's Ways to Use It - encouragement. I think a little thank you for being there is a great encouragement. I know I always feel warm and fuzzy when someone appreciates me. This is also for today's DDIC challenge and a Pier 1picture was our inspiration. (We'd love for you to join in, too. Just put DDIC in your keywords.) And finally, for yesterday's Sketch challenge. My horizontal band is made up of several pieces and my vertical band is almost hidden by the big blooms, but I promise it's there, lol.
I stamped the large dictionary text across a sheet of kraft c/s then embossed it w/ a Herringbone folder and sponged the edges. The flowers were stamped 6 times, colored w/ markers and a water brush, cut out and I used a stylus on the back for a little dimension. Each flower was attached to an identical one and every other petal is lifted.
The different colored pieces are all leftovers from other projects. I cut them all w/ rectangle Nesties. The butterfly was stamped twice, colored, cut out and then I attached them back to back so that the lifted wings would look good on the reverse side as well. A little black crystal is attached to the lower edge of one wing. The sentiment was cut and sponged while the die was still in place. Everything is attached to a tan 5.5 x 4.25 card.
Thanks so much for looking! My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.

what gorgeous colors......the design elements and the layout are fabulous as well, but it is really the colors that give me a feel of the tropics......and that is a happy thought

This is beautiful...and sure to be appreciated! I love the "rustic" quality of your blooms and bg. You really handled a LOT of colors so well....and they all come together in the lovely butterfly. This card is sure to become someone's "keeper".

Another beautiful masterpiece, Julie! I am always SO literal when it comes to sketches, and I love your variations. The kraft textured background is so pretty and makes you yummy colors pop.
