This is my first paint can. I am so excited about how it turned out. I can't wait to give it to my neice who's pregnant with her first baby. I got the poem from remelend who got it from another SCSer. I attached the cardstock to the paintcan with Mod Podge. Worked great!! Try one, they're so much fun!!!

I forgot to write out the poem. You can't read it very well in the picture.
Memory Can
Baby books are great ideas
but sometimes you're too busy
living with a little one
can put you in a tizzy
Milestones pass too fast at times
to find the proper page
So jot a note of each event
with date and baby's age
Like "took 3 steps on June the 1st"
or "teething 5th of December"
Then drop it in this memory can
to help you to remember.

This is so nice...tell me more about the Modge Podge part...is that over and under the green CS? How did you attach the poem layer. I've done this but have had things wanting to peel off of the can...and advice?
I just painted it right on to the paint can and then attached the cardstock. I didn't paint over the cardstock because I didn't want it to be shiny. I used mono adhesive to attach the poem to the can. I think next time I am going to try to paint Mod Podge on the back of the poem and attach it that way. I'd like to be sure the edges aren't going to pull up. I also attached ribbon around the edges where the paper meets and at the top and bottom of the can. I used Mod Podge to do that too. I just painted a thin line right on the cardstock and put the ribbon on, held it for a minute. Waa laa! Done. It is nice and tight and sturdy and it won't come off.

This is so cute! Great job! Also, thanks for printing out the poem...I am going to CASE this for my sister's Grandma shower in a couple of weeks. She is going to babysit the new baby, so Grandma can have a memory can too! What a great idea!
TFS!

What a great idea! Very cute, too! (It did freak me out at first until I read the poem... It reminded me of the memory box that was given to me at the hosptial after my second son was stillborn. They put his footprints, hat, "announcement", and hospital band in it. I've since put an ultrasound pic and his only baby pic in it. I think if I make one of these, I'll use "Baby's First Year" rather than "Memory Can" as the sentiment.)
I love this! I'm going to make a couple of these for a craft fair I'm doing. Now I just have to think of a price! I wish I had one of these when my two were tiny! I can't remember what happened this morning let alone years ago! ;)
