Replaced photo, as I spotted too late that my new lens casts a shadow when used with flash.
Yikes, Cindy pretty much gave us a blank canvas with that white teapot today. And I was pretty much coming up blank too. I had to do a bit of research on Abner, because the only Abominable Snowmen I know are the Himalayan ones, never having seen that Christmas special. So - no snowflakes, no divinity, no milk, and it sounded like no reindeer either.
As I pondered this blank canvas to which we were to add some colour, I remembered thinking that I would like to use this photo I took on Saturday of a backlit cyclamen to make a semi-abstract picture. I didn't actually have canvas texture to print it on, had to make do with linen. I matted it onto red card, and drew a black frame around it. Used the waste from a fleur-de-lis punch as a stencil to ornament the corners a bit, and added some red gems. Maybe Abner won't take exception to red-nosed reindeer after he's acclimatised to this card, and since it's a cyclamen and not a poinsettia, it can't make him think too much of Christmas.
And maybe my imagination will come back later on so I can come in the front door .
And if it makes you think of a lovely hot, slightly spicy, warming tomato soup, so much the better. Never mind CO, it's snowing here.
p.s. this is 5 3/4" square.
I was reading up on the CC on Charlene's blog earlier. I don't usually play along, too much hassle working out colour matches. But this Olympic Event #1 is certainly my level . Red, with black as a neutral.

Look at this gorgeous photo! Just a beauty and I know Abner will be amazed with all the flowers coming his way. I just hope this doesn't give him a heart attack because this red beauty will be such a jolt to the big ol' guy. You really know how to use some waste from a border punch to decorate a card. Super good looking card!

Don't be looking for Mothermark today! She thought she could handle some triple twist loop-de-loop 360 quad toe pick action and ended up in traction! She asked me to fill in since I have been training for the Evian Water Babies Roller Blade team!
Oh brudder...word has it on the halfpipe that a one-eyed cyclops just showed up to give ole Abner a run for his money! How do these rumors get started? Its a cylamen, not a cyclops! Okay, I feel better.....I can throw a mean 360 but I don't like one eye things!
Oh yeah, I gotta get going, my run is next but Mothermark wanted me to tell you that your card is beautiful and she is so impressed how you always include your wonderful photographs in your cards! She thinks you are da bomb and she loves reading your stories...okay, she probably had more to say but I gotta put the smack down on these other competitors!

Your photos are amazing, and this one of a cyclamen is fabulous, Sabrina! Of course the fact that it's RED had no influence on my opinion! LOL! I love the RED, white and black together......when I saw this, I said, "oh good! She made this for ME." How's that for being self-centered!! This card is just gorgeous!!!
