I got the idea for the faux zig-zag stitch from a card in Julie HRR's gallery. She used the small plaid maker as the guide and "scribbled" the zig zag stitch using the small end of the marker. This got me to thinking how I could make a faux straight stitch look. I thought this looked pretty close, and when I put the card out on the table at my workshop today, my customers thought it was really sewing. I did it by drawing the lines lightly using the small end of the marker and ruler, then went back with the paper piercing template and punched the holes. I tried it the other way around, punching the holes first, and wasn't pleased. I sold 3 mat pack sets and 2 plaid makers today by demoing this card! I'm thrilled with the outcome of the card, and with the sales it helped me make!
