My first thought when I saw the sketch for this week was that it looked like a flower hanging out of a vase so that's what I went with. I kind of used the colors from yesterday's color challenge but I changed the bravo burgundy to rose red and I'm much happier with the result.
I loved the flower technique featured in the SAB catty so I decided to try that tonight, having first edged my paper with the scallop punch. I used the stem and leaves from the new Petal Pizazz set, but I have unmounted mine so I was able to manipulate the stem to get the shape I wanted to have the flower leaning. I liked the idea of using the velum to give a hint of a glass vase for my bloom. Finally I took a small liberty with the sketch and switched the oval element in the lower corner for a bow... it just looked too unbalance to me whenever I tried to make it fit.
Thanks for looking!
Kathryn
Edit to include accordian fold instructions:
I cut a 1 1/2" strip from a 12x12" piece of DP and then used my scallop border punch down the entire length of it. I then made an accordian fold back and forth using the points of the scallop as my guide. I have a scor-pal which made this easier but it could be done by hand pretty easily. Once it was all folded I glued one end to the other creating a tube.
The next step is a bit tricky but not too bad. You want to gather the smooth edge and push it together while spreading the scalloped side. The whole thing will go flat and then you can glue some small circles onto the top and bottom to keep it that way.
