Edited to replace with a photo including the little nightlight. The bulb is at the base of the peacock, so if it were working, the body would glow softly.
I've been checking back on the challenges I missed this week, starting with the sketch challenge on Christmas Eve. I was delighted to see this layout, perfect for using this peacock image which DH and I disagreed about what way was the best way to cut it out. I thought this one looked crooked, so it wouldn't work for the card I made last week and I had to stamp another one. How great that crooked was what I needed today, and it ties in with the Holiday Extravaganza challenge, something nostalgic. OK, this isn't a nostalgic style card. But...when my mother was a child, she had a little night-light. I think it must have been battery operated, looking at what is left of the mechanics of it. Anyway, the base was a round silver shape, and the top was a lovely green glass peacock. Is a lovely green glass peacock. Between moving from France to Canada and then to Ireland, she didn't have a lot of things that survived both journeys, but that is one of them. And the last time they moved house before she died, she gave it to me. I must look tomorrow and see can I find it to take a picture of it along with the card...So, that's the memory part of the card, and I used En Francais in Versamark and pink chalk on the base layer of the card, since my glass peacock came from France. You can just about see it in the photo.
It's a funny size card, dictated by the peacock panel. I used some Little Sizzles card for the base, stamped with En Francais and dusted with pink chalk. Then some green patterned paper from the same Little Sizzles pack (Watercolour), and then my peacock (from Frantic Stamper) coloured with H2Os. I added a bit of paper piercing along the bits of the green layer that showed, and some Dew Drops. And then, too fill in the space on the right I added some Chinese rub-ons that a friend sent me a while back. They were in a pile to pass on because I didn't think I'd use them, guess that's changed.
