Thank you for a beautiful color challenge, Christine. I thought it would go well for a Remembrance day card. I did this in honor of my Dad who was a pilot in WW2. He told me tonight of a moment when he was flying in a bomb raid. There were hundreds of planes flying along with him. The enemy was shooting shells into the air trying to shoot the planes down. The plane in front of him opened its bomb doors so he followed suit, as they neared their target. Suddenly, that plane, which was only seconds ahead of him in the sky, was struck with a shell from the ground. The shell hit the bombs it was carrying and the plane exploded right in front of him. There was no time to evade the debris in the sky and he flew right through the smoke. Nothing touched the plane my dad was in.
We were both thinking tonight, that the difference between life and death for him that night was mere seconds, for it so easily could have hit his plane instead. Those seconds are the reason I am sitting here writing this now.
I am very thankful for the sacrifices he and his comrades made in the forties to ensure the freedoms we now fight to keep.
Bless him and all the families of soldiers as we remember today...

What a beautiful, thoughtful card! We owe so much to those who serve and have served. My husband spent 25 years in the military so I have great respect for all the men and women who keep us safe. My nephew is serving in Afghanistan right now. He will be there till February, this is his second tour there. God bless them all and thank you for sharing your story.
