I started with a picture of my husband and son from earlier this year. (That's the underneath side of the Cut River Bridge in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, if you're curious.) I thought that I'd tackle an 8" x 8" format--not so intimidating as a 12" x 12" for this card maker! I dug through my paper stash and found an 8" x 8" pad of Cogsmo by Cosmo Cricket, and the colors were pretty much perfect. Not only that, but the 8" x 8" pad also had quote strips--that made it easy to do the bottom line on the sketch.
I used a Spellbinders bracket die to cut the brackets at the bottom; they aren't necessary for the sketch, but they help add a bit of color and emphasize the type in the red strip. For the "Boys Rule" title, I pull a journaling block from the same Cogsmo pad and chopped it to size. Finally I added some buttons, thinking that I'd get away with those better than with ribbon for my guys.
