Does anyone have the Hampton Art Stamp Perfect Positioning Tool? It looks like a clone of the Misti except for color and price difference. Just wondering if anyone has used it and what the quality is like. Thanks.
I bought the Hampton Arts one at Michaels with a coupon for $12.50. I really like it. I like being able to line up the new multi-stamps as well as do no line watercoloring with markers.
I'm sure the MISTI is an excellent tool, but one I couldn't really afford.
WOW! The Hampton Arts positioner is almost a carbon copy of Iliana's wonderful MISTI in appearance. This just isn't right, imho!!!
This is no different when for a example WRMK made the envelope punch board....then SU licensed them to make one under their name. Have you ever seen how many stamp companies have the same stamps. Lawn Fawn came out with the Otter die several years ago now there are two other companies making them.
I purchased the WRMK precision Press because it has a feature Misti does not, added bonus it was cheaper. I could be wrong but how long before SU comes out with one. It's just the way it is imho.

It's completely different, actually. The WRMK/SU co-branding was a legally contracted license with the original manufacturer, and produced by the manufacturer. That isn't the case with these exact-look-alike products.

There are definitely repeats that show up in stamp designs - it happens all the time. We're following trends, or we see an idea and want to put our own twist on it. However, you'll rarely find stamps or sets that are exactly alike unless they're sourced from the public domain, or a site where images can be licensed for a fee. It's a huge challenge to stay fresh and different from everyone else!
Perhaps I could have phrased my words differently. What I said on another thread was that once someone has done the hard work (Illiana-misti) it is easy for someone else to put their own twist on to the original idea.
I know from experience that you only have to change something very small to market it under another name. I also understand about trends, but to me it's the same thing whether a Misti or stamps. something whatever comes out and then it is copied or becomes a trend. My point was someone had to come up with original idea or concept before all of the above happens. If not for creative people there would not be a Misti or someone else's idea of an otter stamp.
i did not mean to imply that SU's punch board was not legal, just saying that copy cats are everywhere when some said " it's not fair" about other Misti like products were out there.
I hope this is a better understanding of what I was getting at.lol

When an original idea is improved upon, that's innovation too, and common in almost every product we purchase or use, from cereal to cars. (Looking up commercial cold cereal, the first was called Granula, 1863. Wheatena, the first boxed hot cereal, a move to more sanitary practices, arrived in 1879. And now I want some.)
You said it "when an original idea is improved upon. Sometimes new and improved does not turn out to be the case. I am joking of course when I think of the new improved Samsung phone ......bursting into flames. Lol

CANADA GOOSE how do you like this stamp press, I just ordered one
and am wondering if it is a good choice. I was impressed by the videos I
watched on it.
I liked it well enough to buy another. I also am involved with a stamping club in Arizona where I demo'd mine. As a result 5 ladies bought one and a couple bought two one for themselves, and another for gifts. The only one who did not buy already had a Misti and told the class she liked mine better because it is not restricted to size of paper like her Misti. I watched 10 different blogs comparing the two and when they all said they were equal with the exception of no paper size restriction for the WRMK that sold it for me.Also, no magnets or sponge matts needed for photopolymer stamps .Just pop the paper in and away you stamp.
I watched a comparison video of the Misti, WRMK and Hampton Art stamp positioners. Individual preference plays such a big part, but I thought it was interesting. Just one person's take so I'll watch others.
