Default Valerie's Definition Sheets

In the gallery there are several cards using what I have penned, "Valerie's Definition Sheets".

To avoid from having you wait by pm'ing Valerie or myself, here are the instructions.

These sheets that the immensely talented and beautiful 11Valerie11 developed are......guess what......created by your printer!!

1. Visit m-w.com (Merriam-Webster's website) and enter in desired word.

2. Highlight and copy.

3. Paste into MS Word or similar program over and over.

4. Print onto cardstock.

You can even change the font styles for multiple fonts on one sheet. This idea of changing the font styles is the concept of the lovely stamping goddess Michelle Wooderson. Try saving them under the desired word for future use.

Here are a few links to the cards using Valerie's Definition Sheets:

Wow, that's an awesome idea! I've always loved the By Definition background stamp, but wanted something more appropriate to the them of my card. Solves the problem nicely!!

A twist on the same idea: cut & paste Bible verses, poetry, etc. Makes a wonderful background! TFS!

Does anyone know an online Bible text site that doesn't have footnotes and text marking?

Default Bible online

Hi there! I just found a nice site for scipture online. It's http://www.kjvbible.net
You can type the word "faith" in the search box and choose from entire bible, old testament, or new testament. Now, if you do NOT click any of the other 3 options, it comes up like this:
_____________________

Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
____________________

That's just 3 out of a list of 280 verses found in the New Testament.
Hope this helps! I will certainly be trying this. Great idea!

Sounds cool

MG - it won't look exactly the same because you'll need to remove the little megaphone picture and then make it all on one line. Remember after you get it how you want it to look copy and paste it into the same document over and over again to fill up the page.

I'll attach a basketball one I just did. I made the margins as small as I could so as not to waste any paper ;) It's a word document.

Now off to check out my stamps and think of what word I want to use

There are a LOT of different quote sites out there. A few that I like are:

http://www.quoteworld.org/
http://www.wisdomquotes.com/
http://www.quoteland.com/
http://www.memorablequotations.com/
http://www.bartleby.com/quotations/

And for poetry:

http://www.poets.org/
http://www.americanpoems.com/
http://www.literaryhistory.com/20thC...andBritish.htm
http://oldpoetry.com/
http://www.bartleby.com/verse/

Actually, Bartleby.com is an excellent reference site in general. There's a pull-down box at top right where you can select from different resources -- quotations, KJ Bible, Encyclopedias, mythology -- whatever you might be looking for. http://www.bartleby.com/

How about we start a "library" of defination sheets? Wouldn't it be cool to just go to the library thread and have some already made up. We'd just need to print them off!

We could start a thread and attach the ones we have made onto our posts.

Where would it be best to do this? In template and techniques or the resources forum?

Any other ideas on how to make this work?

Thanks for this great idea! I just had to try it as soon as I saw this, so I got the definition for Father from the m-w site and made this card:

I'll give this card to my Dad for Father's Day.

Thanks again!

This is a really fun technique! I love that you can change the font to fit the "mood" of the word definition. This is a link to the first card I did using this technique:

That's a terrific idea. I'm having one of those duh moments now. Why didn't I ever think of something like that. Especially since I've always liked By Definition.
