As a Pharmacist, any pharmacy will have glycerin...it is used as a softening and suspending agent. If you can't find it in the regular aisle you can always ask if they can order it for you.
Distilled water is really the only thing you should use for any mixtures because it doesn't have any chemicals. It's really cheap and lasts forever!
You can use it in your iron also since it won't cause any of the yukky white spots when you steam things.

What do you use a blender pen for? I have seen them in the store but never used one before. I don't do a lot of stamping for my cards so am not up on a lot of stuff. I am really enjoying this site. Learning a lot of things.

Never heard of diluting the SU cleaner either. Why would they package it in a spray bottle that you would have to find another container to store and dilute etc. Doesn't make any sense at all. Dawn dishwasher soap works fine too in the recipe if you already have it in your kitchen. Just remember to use the glycerin. it is a must to keep your stamps conditioned. Glycerin on a damp cloth helps to recondition your windshield wipers too. Oh yes, I was too lazy to go to the kitchen downstairs the last time I ran out of cleaner and I used a few drops of diluted Suave Shampoo - Lavender scented. Nice change of scent at the stamping table and it works just fine. I have well water -- mountain spring water and I admit to being too cheap to buy distilled. As long as you dry your stamps well before putting them away I don't think they will be hurt. However, treated city water -- I don't think I would.

Maybelline Eye Makeup Remover (frosty bottle w/blue cap) - about $3.50
Tap water (works just fine and is cheap)
Small spray bottle, about 8 oz
Pour half the makeup remover into the bottle. Fill with water. Turn bottle to combine, do not shake. Ready to use. When it's almost gone, repeat.

Have never heard of this combo. but hey...if it works!! No problems with it drying out your stamps, etc?
Can you use this with the clear acrylic stamps also? and does it work well with Stazon products and/or craft inks (meaning NOT the waterbased types)
LAST..where do you buy the makeup cleaner...maybe at Walmart? (We only have a Walmart and Meijer's where I live, so that's why I'm asking)

I've always used ready-made simple green with a couple drops of glycerin. Can I use it on acryic stamps too? I noticed that that mixture doesn't get the stains out of my acrylic stamps like it does my rubber stamps. Is there something that can?
Ladies, Let me add my cleaner to your list. The name of the product is called Awesome & I get it at the dollar store. It is great for cleaning stamps particularly Staz-on. I have used it for approx 5 years now & really like it. It actually cleaned off some Staz-on that had been on a stamp for quite awhile.

i've use this product.
1st i soak a papertowel
place on a clean meat tray-my stores just hand you a couple free. just don't ask too often.
when i need to clean a stamp
i spray w/ awesome onto the papertowel
clean off stamp.
place on a clean wet papertowel.
sit to dry

I've read every post and I understand that the glycerin is supposed to condition your rubber stamps, but what does the rosewater do?
Would it be better to use the rosewater if you are cleaning acrylic stamps?
I use simple green, just a few drops to an 8 oz bottle of water. (I paid $8 for a whole gallon of simple green at the True Value Hardware Store.) If my acrylic blocks get cloudy, I just wet a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and wipe all sides, then rinse and dry. They're sparkly new looking again.
I found it at Dollar Tree. There are several different Awesome cleaners such as; Awesome Orange, Awesome Windex, Awesome Kitchen, Bathroom, Etc. It took a few minutes for me to find just the "regular" Awesome, so don't be too quick to pick up the first one you see with "Awesome" on it! I think the whole name is "LA's Totally Awesome" "As seen on TV", , but the word "Awesome" is in bigger letters. Hope this helps!
Just made a batch of the Simple Green cleaner with the glycerin and WOW! Worked Great! It took me a while to find the glycerin, but happened to be in the First Aid section at Kroger and there it was! And only $.95!!! ;)
It even cleaned up my DD's stamps that were so stained that you couldn't tell what they really were! Now she has her own little spray bottle and she is religiously cleaning all of her stamps!
Will make great little gifts (once I alter the little spray bottles) for a goodie bag that I am making for our shoebox swap in April!

I use Glycerin to recondition my stamps. When I notice stamp rubber turning white or looking kind of dry I rub glycerin on it. I let it sit a couple of days to absorb and if it is still dry add a TINY bit of glycerin, rub and let sit.
Note: I contacted a stamp maker and asked about stamp rubber turning white or pale looking without being dried out. She said companies use to make their stamps out of a certain rubber but most have changed to the red kind. :p
subbing. Thanks to all the great stamp cleaning ideas. I have stamps from the late 90's that need some cleaning and didnt know where to start. Just wish I would have read this thread prior to ordering the stamp cleaning pad and cleaner--but i always learn the hard way--LOL! Thanks again!

You must mean 'industrial strength' perfume!! Some people can leave a room and you smell it hours later! Old ladies use to use rose water as perfume, it was cheap, they could make their own.
FYI: Water taken from a dehumidifier is considered distilled.
*Old ladies*made me giggle. Young ladies used rosewater as perfume also. Many couldn't afford expensive perfume of the day. When young, my Mom used berries to tint her lips.
I've never heard that water from a dehumidifier is distilled. To distill water, remove all impurities, it has to be boiled, turned into steam then evaporated back into water. The water added to a dehumidifier is tap water, far from distilled. It is to be emptied daily and the dehumidifier washed thoroughly. If not, you can get serious mold, gunk and pure nasty water. I would NEVER drink any water from a dehumidifier. You want distilled water ONLY when mixing any concoction. It is the impurities in other water that grows unhealthy goo in your mixture. The Spring water, etc., is NOT distilled. READ THE LABELS!!
Do avoid all baby wipes that contain Lanolin. This breaks down your clear stamps. Read the label! Not all baby wipes contain lanolin.
I searched for the Awesome cleaner at my Dollar Tree. There were several formulas. I'm not sure if there was a *regular or original* formula. I picked what seemed to be the mildest one and read the back label. If I remember right, it said do not use on glass. That was scary so I replaced it on the shelf. Anything that will harm glass, doesn't need to be in my house. So, please read any product label that you're considering using on our expensive rubber/acrylic stamps.
I've used the Baby Wash stamp cleaner recipe for about 3 years now and have had no ill effects on my rubber or clear stamps.
Side Note: If you have those widdle unwelcome guests in your kitchen, *Ants*, spray them with the Baby Wash stamp cleaner!! No joke!! Stops them in their tracks immediately. We've lived here over 40 years and have had these little creatures for about the last 3. I won't use any chemical around my sink or counters. After fighting them for about 2 weeks, I was mad, desperate and determined! lol I grabbed my stamp cleaner sitting there on the counter and sprayed away. I was so amazed! It took about 3 days to finally convince them I was in this for the long haul. FYI, they go for greasy stuff and ignore sweet stuff. Not fun to go in the kitchen in the middle of the night and see them all over a dish in the sink from a late night sandwich!!

I don't use the awesome cleaner but I wonder if it says do not use on glass because it streaks?
Ants .. arghhh, my exterminator told me to spray the ants with any household cleaner (409, windex, etc.) and then don't wipe it up for a day. He said it distroys the scent trail and kills the little buggers. But it doesn't kill the nest. He put stuff around the outside of the house to kill the nest. You found out the secret that I paid someone to tell me LOL
