How do I dye the pretties kit flowers... help!

Does anyone know how to dye the pretties kit flowers? I am sure you just use the reinkers... but it is so messy and it never comes out how I want it to.

I feel like an idiot because I dont know how to do this... :(

I just read somewhere, I think it was this months SS (magazine for demos) that you can use the pastels to color the "pretties"

also, did you try the reinkers with an aquapainter? I don't think it would be as messy this way?
good luck!!

I "painted" mine with the markers. Here are two examples:

Check out this blog. She used markers to color the pretties.

You can "smoosh" the pretties right onto your ink pad. You can also use reinkers or watercolor crayons with your aquapainter. Be sure they are TOTALLY dry before trying to adhere them!

I have used the markers also.....You don't have to make them solid either. I made the bottom flower solid and the smaller top flower I highlighted the center.......Billye

I just touched the edge of the petal with the brush side of my marker and it drank the ink right up.

I just read somewhere to use Kool-AID to dye silk flowers(but leave your sugar out of course!!...no sense wasting it)...but would be inexpensive and you could do LOTS at a time

I have NOT tried it as I don't have any silk flowers...(or Kool-AID) on hand...yet!! Will pass more info. along IF I can find the book I saw it in.

I wonder if the Easter Egg dyes would work?? Might be something fun to try when kids are done doing their eggs...??

Happy Easter to everyone also!! Take care...

Wow Curias I love your videos. I went to look at the one for coloring the flowers and stayed over an hour just looking! BUT after looking I went out and used one of my Krylon metallic pens and made a beautiful gold flower! Can't wait to use it somewhere. I know that's probably quite expensive, but I have all these Krylon pens that I'm not using! Now I will. Thanks for super blessing my day.

Hey, OP - don't worry! There are a million ways to color these flowers. Watercoloring of course. I like to dye them - in a little pyrex dish with reinker mixed with a little water. I let them soak and then put them on a cookie cooling rack. I've also embossed them - smooshed onto a wwhite craft pad and embossed with Irridescent Ice. Check out my blog for some samples (sorry - no videos . Good luck!

Whoa.....I was showing my husband what I did with the Krylon pen and turned it over the flower and wow! I used a burgundy-colored prima and when I turned it over the gold seeped through thus giving it both colors! Very nice. Now I'm going to try putting the two-way glue totally over the entire flower and sprinkle with Diamond Dust glitter which is what I saw at the Irvine, CA regional on February 1st.

At convention, we used pastels and daubers. They said you could also use aqua painters and ink in the lid of the inkpads, & markers.

I, too, just smush the pretties into an inkpad. Warning: they take awhile to dry.

I love the technique using the chalks but I've also dyed with the inkpad then added details with a darker shade of the marker
