Scrappin' Challenge 2020Can you believe this is our 12th year of Scrappin' Goal Challenge?!
We sure completed an AWESOME number of pages together in 2009 through 2019 and I'm looking forward to MORE Scrap pages together in 2020! Let's keep scrappin'. It was SO fun to chat about and see everyone's pages, goals and ideas for completing LOTS of scrapbook pages in 2020! Many had a common theme - get more pages done, use what's in our stash, meet new scrapping friends, plan time/crops... What fun we'll have sharing ideas, cheering success, keeping the motivation and making new friends. Our scrap goal isn't all about getting pages done, it's also about enjoying the process!
Please feel free to join at any time!
Here's the CHALLENGE. Each person can share their page goals, pages and ideas. for those of use who like Annual Goals, we will have a better shot at meeting our yearly goal if we break it down by month. *In this thread, we track our monthly goals. We find it helps us keep getting pages done which is good for all of us. You choose your own scrapbook page goal and monthly spend goal. You may select 2, 3, 5, 50 pages....you choose. The idea is to be flexible so if you know you're going to be really busy, you can reduce the number one month or if you're going to a couple crops or scrap weekends, up the number. This also works for the budget. Each month, you can change your goals depending on your calendar!
The whole goal of the challenge is to get lots of pages done all the while enjoying sharing with Virtual Friends. Are you UP for the CHALLENGE? Come and Play in the 2020 Scrapbook Challenge!
Here's to Meeting our Scrapping Goals & Meeting New Friends! We'd love to "oohh" and "aahh" over your pages so please post with key word "sbc20may"

What a GREAT way to kick off May with (i)NSD! Yay us! It's our own special day. My DH says it seems like I'm more excited for this than my Bday :p
---- SPECIAL VSBN -----
This Month, we're going to have a "Special VSBN" --- I'm calling it:
Thread Here - Staycation - For the People, By the People
Here is how this is going to work:
The theme is - Staycation - since we're all "stuck at home" or doing the "shelter in place" ... it's all about being at home
The rest of the theme - For the People, By the People - means that everyone who wants to play gets to come up with a Challenge Inspired by their Home.
It could be about your state, city, province, country you live or your actual "house/home". I have posted the FIRST Challenge .... PM me or post in the Chat Thread Your Challenge and I'll update the Master Thread!
Welcome to our May StayCation -- For the People, By the People!

Thanks for kicking off May Lela...where did April go?
Anyone else want to join in scrapping tomorrow? I also don’t get a lot done when chatting. It’s more about saying hi and putting a face to a name. You can come on and stay for a quick hello or as long as you would like. Hope you come on.
Happy national scrapping weekend...guess what I will be doing today? Keep safe

I got a double page layout done this afternoon, so I'm already to two of my goal of 30 for the month. I had 109 photos arrive today (ordered from Shutterfly) which gives me 20 events ready to scrap, and most will be double pages. That will make a big dent in finishing the highlights of my son's senior year so I'm excited!
I didn't make my goal for April, but I'm happy with my progress. My signature is updated to reflect today's work.
I don't know if I'll get to scrap tomorrow or not... My husband is taking next week off to start building my daughter's bedroom in the basement and I have to move my craft stuff out of the way, haha. Most of my stuff is right next to her future bedroom. But I am looking forward to playing with the VSBN! Thanks ladies!

Good morning everyone. I set aside today to get lots of scrapping done, but first I want to drop off the link for the May Stash Busters challenge! Come out and play. And speaking of playing, I need to put my thinking cap back on and think of a challenge for Lela's Staycation VSBN . . .

Got my first layout done. It took way too long because I think I have scrapbooking ADHD! I kept going off on bunny trails and checking my computer for something or the other. I will post my layout a little later because I want to get some more layouts finished before dinner. Who else is scrapping right now?

On the blog she has further links that take you to lots of free printable. Have fun

Jayne, thanks for getting us together! It was so fun to meet Nancy, and to see Joyce Ann!
We had a lovely time. I have to look at the challenges and get started!
I sure didn't spend NSD the way I'd hoped, haha, but I did "scrapbook". At Christmas I made a chatbook for my great-aunt who'd just been put in a rest home. She never married and has no children so I did a super simple book of her throughout the years, along with her parents and siblings. Her sister that also never married and has no children absolutely loved it so I needed to make her one too. Full disclosure- I've used chatbooks twice and am not at all impressed so I wasn't doing that again. Since it was just dropping photos into a book I thought I'd try Shutterfly again. Clearly I am too used to customizing my pages ;) so after spending most of Saturday finding/selecting pictures, putting them in chronological order, and putting them in a Shutterfly book I didn't like, I gave up and did the whole thing in MDS! Then I uploaded the pages to a blank Shutterfly book to order it, lol! It took the bulk of my weekend. The book itself is super basic because she liked the chatbook format, but I did love the cover so I uploaded that!
Also linking up the two layouts I've done but haven't linked. ;)
I am looking at the VSBN Challenges. They look fun. I need to print some photos. I have been trying to use what I have before I print more. Now, all I have are heritage ones, and they need to be sorted and decisions made about which ones to use!
I will also try to get a VSBN challenge pm'd to you Lela, and a Technique challenge posted.
About Cheryl's question: I think we should post links to VSBN layouts both here and in the VSBN thread. Not everyone looks both places.

It was a busy weekend with my kids coming out two days in a row. Then Dick having a bad few days now things are starting to settle down again.
I saw the VSBN Challenge (thanks Lyn) and it looks like a fun deal, I’ll have to investigate more after working on the two pages I have going. I did not get any scrapping done on Saturday during international scrapbooking day oh well there are plenty more days of the month
Quick question: does anyone have a Cuttlebug they use for cutting thin dies? I have only used mine with embossing folders up until now, but I saw a cool die I wanted and broke down and got it. I'm kinda confused about how to use it though. I watched a few YouTube videos and it seems I might need to buy a C Plate plus a metal shim. Can anyone weigh in on this? Thanks!
Sorry, I don’t use a cuttle bug. I know with a big shot that it has two plastic plates that you use to cut Di’s with. There are a variety of different plates to use and each machine is a little bit different. That’s about all I know about a cuddle bug that and I found them very confusing to use but that’s probably because I’m not a custom to the bug.

Cheryl, I have a Big Shot, For thin cut dies, I use 2 cutting plates and my husband made me a "shim" plate out of 2 heavy corrugated pieces he glued together. It works perfectly ....

Cheryl I have a BG. A couple of friends have Cuttlebugs and they do need extra plates when they use. I’ve forgotten which but here is a video to help you. Happy die cutting

I am feeling so challenged by technology this week. It wasn't enough that I realized I have to order new plates for my Cuttlebug in order for the steel dies I purchased to work in it, now I find the replacement Cricut mats I ordered from Joanns are taking an exceptionally long time to arrive. Just got an e-mail that they are "respecting local restrictions on the number of workers that can be in a store at one time" so it's taking longer to fulfill pick up in store orders. That kinda cracked me up because I never remember seeing more than two employees at a time in my local Joanns!
Anyway, until my new mats arrive I can either try alternatives to die-cut titles (just pulled out some CM mini stickers from 2004 to use on a layout) or search online for how to recondition Cricut mats to make them sticky again. Or I guess I can dust off my really old mini Cricut, the one that only takes 12" x 6" mats, and use the last mat I have for that. What a way to start my morning!
Cheryl, so sorry to hear that you are having technology challenges this week...I hope that your plates don't take too long to arrive. It does seem to be a week of challenges here too.
Happy scrapping everyone

Checking in for the month of May
My goal for this month is to get my nephew's first year finally completed. I'm currently sitting at his month 10 so there's only months 10,11,12 to go so I think it's achievable
Graduation is on the 21st, which was the original plan. Except it will be a 'drive thru' just like picking up fast food. Students can bring one car full of people in seat belts. The cars will line up and when we get to the table the student will get out, wave to the teachers, pick up their diploma, get back in the car and we'll drive off home. We pick up the cap and gown next week "which gives us 6 days to take pictures and celebrate". I'm glad they're doing SOMETHING, some districts are not.
