I am going to finish a few scrapbooks I started a few years ago and was wondering if everyone switched to digi or project life types of scrapping? I have way to many papers and embellishments to start over!

Love to paper scrap my books. I am adding project life to one of my books along with regular pages. Digi is good, but to sit with others and work on pages is so rewarding.

I agree. I like the tactile. I have been working very hard genealogy and am going vintage scrap some of the old family photos. I actually saved some vintage scrapbook paper and stamps! I can't wait. Unfortunately, I desperately need to clean the craft room and work desk. My son has been dumping there for a while.

I'm a paper scrapbooker. In all honesty,I never gave digi a chance (or a thought!) I just love feeling the paper and embellishments and arranging and re-arranging. I also love to have dimension on my pages with pop dots, ribbons, etc.
Paper here. Why stick your photos in a computer and rick losing them when computer crashes? And the tactile feel of looking thu a photo album is so good.
I still like paper scrapbooking. I love paper piecing on kid and baby pages. I like simple flowers and chipboard on grown up pages. I really don't care if any one else does it my way. Most of my friends don't have a clue what is in or out in the scrapbooking world and they love looking at my pages...lol. That being said I also love to see some of the digital books people do. I think it takes me longer to do digital but it is fun too. I was in our Michaels the weekend and there seemed to be a little bit of new stuff so it may be on the rise again. I hope so.
I am now and will always be a paper scrapbooker. I love the feel of the paper, embellishments, etc. and the moving it around 10 times before I'm happy with the page.
I prefer paper over digital scrapbooking since my day job requires me to be in front of a computer for 40 hours a week. Paper scrapbooking is a break from the computer and is my therapy. Don't get me wrong, I like the digital final product, I just don't enjoy the process.
I did three paper scrapbooks about ten years go. The cost was crazy. I liked really embellished pages and I was a single mom and just could not afford it. a few years later i discovered digital and never looked back. I love the learning curve with the software. I love that I can work on a project for a few minutes in the morning before work or when i can't sleep and the clean up is the click of a button. I also love my art room and making cards and mixed media from paper. I work full time and part time, so I spend lots of time, all of my time in front of a computer, but it is stressful not creative. Some weeks, heck, some months all i have is a few minutes, but with digital i can do something creative in those few minutes. plus when i mess up it costs me nothing.

Definitely a paper scrapper here, with zero plans of giving it up. I do not scrap the PL way, but I do have a couple PL packs from SU! I alter them to use on more traditional pages.
I agree about paper scrapping. I have never tried digital but I like paper scrapping. I like actual pictures and love taking them. I have to admit I do more cards than scrapbooks but every now and then I look at pictures and need to put them in a scrapbook.
I do all types. However I still prefer the paper over digital especially now that SU is discontinuing it's MDS program, as it's the only one I've ever used.
I just finished a layout tonight and could not imagine doing it digital. Sure it probably would have taken less time but it would have lacked all of the lumps and bumps and texture I love so much. You can't run a layout you worked on through your sewing machine!!!
I'm a paper scrapper, and I too gave digi scrapping a try and it's just not the same. I love the tactile feel of real papers and embellishments and that feeling of glee when I've created something. I've stepped away from crafting in general for the past 4 years and am finally feeling like I want to play again. I guess everyone is now project lifing? It doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather take my own sweet time because that's my joy. It's the same with making cards. I'm more of a scrapper than I am a card maker though.
i love paper scrapbooks. but i am far better at digital and way more creative. i enjoy using photoshop. i love to make cards but i would conservatively estimate that when i make a card it takes me at least three tries. i am not so good, so paper scrapbooking is costly for me. if i trash something on photoshop is just start over and i've lost nothing but time. oh if i just had more money, more time, more, more, more!

I still scrap paper but intermixed in my albums with pocket pages. I've never been much of an embellisher, the photos and story have always been the thing for me.
Never considered going digital - I had a geeky friend try to teach me but I found it more frustrating than fun. Her pages are lovely, though.
Got a trial version of MDS from SU and abandoned it fairly quickly due to total incompetence, lol. I can resize and crop in photoshop and that's IT.
I make cards now more than pages because I can make them and send them without having to store them!
Hi Everybody! I will always be a paper scrapper. I have always explained my craft as an "Adult form of arts and crafts". It gives me complete pleasure to play with bits and pieces and to be able to look at my finished page. My pages are a legacy of our family's life and I know my children will treasure them because they know how much love went into creating them. It is an expensive hobby but I feel it is well worth it. Scrapbooking is a passion no matter how it is created but I feel paper scrapping slows my life down to reflect and cherish and remember good and bad times.
Definitely a paper scrapbooker here. Like someone else mentioned earlier, I've never even given digital a chance. I had thought about switching over a couple times over the years but realized that paper's where it's at. LOL
I do have a few Project Life items and actually did my son's graduation scrapbook in PL style. In future books I'd like to do books that are combos of regular scrapbooking and PL style.
I have spring break next week and the PLAN is to clean out my scrap room and hopefully get some pages done.

Switched to digi when i moved to Japan and couldn't find paper supplies. Then i moved to Europe and it was horribly expensive so i continued in digital. I used up most of my paper supplies for other crafts and since i photograph in digital, i kept going in digital. BUT, i do print them out into bound books via ARTSCOW so now i have a set of 12x12 coffee table style books...I love them!
Absolutely "LOVE" my Paper Scrapbooks. I also haven't given digi a chance, I have so much invested in my papers, albums, embellishments etc. But I also just love creating with all the different textures. I too am WAY behind, but was so blessed by the fact that I was behind when I thoroughly enjoyed scrapbooking some photos of my DC when they were about 7 & 8 yrs. They are now in their 20's and reminiscing while working with those photos was pure joy! I was happy to not be caught up as we say and put extra stress on ourselves. Ha!
I love my craft time, but vowed to not miss out on making memories when given the opportunity because I'm holed up in my craft room. So being behind h as proven to be a blessing in disguise to me.

Love to scrap book with paper it is a more creative way to express my memories. Have done digital also but doesn't have the feel of paper. I love to invite friends over to scrap and make cards. Women are social so like my quilting it is like a scrapbee for all my friends and family. I love to share with my daughter and granddaughters making memories together. yes it is expensive but what I have will go to the children for there enjoyment also.
I don't really think one is more creative than the other. Just uses different material and different skill sets. I enjoy learning the software and learning how to make a flat page have texture and dimension.
I'm retiring soon and looking forward to getting back into scrapbooking. I don't do digital scrapbooks at all. If I had to send scrapbooks to all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. I definitely would go digital. But since the scrapbooks are just for me, I really enjoy working with the paper and all the embellishments. Also I don't want to have to learn a new software program. Windows 8 is traumatic enough for me! LoL. So for the time being, I'm old school.

I totally agree with your comment about having way too much scrapbooking embellishments, etc. to start over. I like the whole process of scrapbooking and have never considered digital. However, I'm so way behind scrapbooking all our trips, plus memories of daughters' growing up, etc. And I'm retired!!
yep i work in front of three screens all day long doing nothing remotely relaxing or fun. to be quite honest not to have to go to the basement craft room or clean up anything, some nights, some weeks i love that. i bought $150 worth of alcohol markers two weeks ago and i have not even opened the box they were shipped in. i want to, i am just tired!

I can't figure out how to reply, but I will try. I am also a genealogist and want to incorporate that aspect into my scrapbooking, but so far only doing our trips. I have so many scrapbooks I want to create, but so little time!! Not to mention that I am slow because I love the process....
I just made my first paperbag album for my grandkids summer visit. I've been more a cardmaker than scrapper, but with the grandkids all living out of state I want something to pick up and page through.
I didn't think would like digi but when stuck in a small camper during week of bad weather & obviously couldn't lug my craft room with me; the opportunity allowed me to get out of the box and into a happy place of scrappin..digi style. I know the hubby was happy because it save HIS life. LOL I see the value in both styles, just need more time :-)
I am a paper scrapbooker but I do like to mix the pocket style pages in with my traditional pages some. The pocket style pages help me to scrap an event where I have a lot of pictures like our Disney trip. At one time I wanted to try digi but couldn't even figure out where to start so I gave up before even starting lol. I love to be able to touch all my papers and embellishments so my love is paper crafting.
scrapnchic, i bought a photoshop elements program seven years ago and cried and cussed because i was such a failure and the world was leaving me behind (start of menopause explains some of that behavior). i bought a how to program and it was one hundred times better. i am know trying to self teach the photoshop program and light room with the same disastrous results. i need to get into a class. but i work two jobs now so i do not know when that will happen.
i do lots of cards, way more than i scrapbook so i get my paper fix!

I hadn't thought about my card making as getting my paper/embellishment fix, but you're correct. I have a new mindset now that a friend says she'll teach me how to do digital scrapbooking. So I'm excited to try it. Perhaps i'll make hybrid scrapbooks too, as I've collected so much stuff towards many scrapbooks already. I know digi scrapbooking is a big time savers, and that's what I need. Feeling overwhelmed with all I want to complete!
well I do not know if it is a time saver, I can spend hours if I have the time. but clean up and cost is a huge savings. also when sleep eludes me I can sit in my living room and craft and not have to go to the scary basement to craft. I love my craft room but in the middle of the night being down there alone creeps me out!
Howdy ya'll.....! To answer the post Yes....oh check yeah I do. When digi scraping first came out I kinda liked the idea but back then we were working with big honking computers that didn't have a lot of storage or power so hubby got mad cause of all of my downloads so I thought about that for a few days and came to the conclusion that we older gals have been scraping long before computers,so I just deleted everything I ever downloaded(which was a LOT !!!) Anyways What do all these young women think how we scraped for years and years without a computer....??? So my answer to the question.....Yes I still paper scrap...in fact I make my own scrape-books and I have so much paper and embellishments, dies, glitter, glue guns,Cricut Expression along with cartridges, fabric out the wahzoo, buttons, teabag folding papers....etc....you name it I probably have it in my craft room. I just love scrapping, one small problem stops me dead in my tracks to my craft room every time.....I don't like or even look forward to scrapin anymore because I don't like doing it all by myself. After moving from a small town where your Daddy knew my Daddy ,and they both knew the town Sheriff cause they all went to the same school...kinda town to San Antonio,TX and I have been here 18 years and have yet to find someone willing to help me use up all these goodies I've been hoarding all these years....so most of the time I just walk past the craft room door ,tears running down my cheeks, dreading going in. I am seriously considering selling it all after all the work I've put into my craft room and acquiring everything it just breaks my heart to see it just set there. Maybe God will bless me finally with a "real" friend and I can get back to what I used to love doing. Anyhoo do any of ya'll remember there being a Cricut cartridges forum.....???? I can't seem to find it anymore, maybe they took it down...??? I know I sure need the info that used to be there....there was a lot of good information there and I don't understand why they would ever get rid of it....or maybe I'm so old that I've lost my way around here....so much has changed here. But Thank ya'll for the chat. God bless every one of ya'll.....
