I didn't put a blanket over her, but put it over the carrier to keep the cold air out. I haven't seen Missy since Sunday afternoon. One of the other cats, Buddy took over the carrier, but I also think he has a case of mange although not near as severe as Missy had it, so I'm going to see about taking him to the vet on Friday when my boss will be out of town. I don't think I can count on doing the same things for him because I probably would not be able to get him back for a follow up visit.
Don't have electricity outside so no heating pad. There are a couple of cat pads that warm up when they lay on them.
Oh no. I hope she comes back so you can keep an eye on her. There must have been a lot of mites!
What are these pads that heat up when the cats lie on them?

I put one on the front porch this morning. Missy showed up there again and I put her food and water out there rather than taking her around to the back yard. I sure hope she'll eat something. I need to figure out what to do next.

No, she didn't look better - very pathetic. My heart just breaks for her. I feel so bad like I should have seen it sooner and done something sooner. :( She didn't stay on the porch very long this morning. Don't think she ate much either if anything. If she's there again, I'm going to take her to the vet and have them put her down. If she's not eating, she's going to starve herself.

I know you are patiently waiting to not work and do fun things like teaching copics etc. Hang in there. You have worked there a long time. You can work there a little longer.

LOL! Nancy, you bring laughter to my heart! What a friend. I know you'd do it too. This time is wasn't just him, but also the OM at work. It had to do with our year-end bonuses which we got last Friday. Mine was a good bit less than it was last year. I had conversations with a couple of my GF's and it seems that others did too. Friday the OM told me it was because my boss's "team" was not as productive this year as last year. His "team" is him and his son and I guess the paralegal since she bills out her time. So I'm the one that gets penalized. I finally asked my boss about it and he said that there was "more to the story" but didn't tell me what the "more" was. I didn't mention any more to him until this morning. I went in his office as had him tell me what the "more" was. Turned out that the OM told our Executive Committee (3 attorneys and her) that I had a bad attitude in that I did not help people out when I was asked. I about blew a gasket because NO ONE has ever asked me to help them with anything and have me say no to them. Was a bold-face lie. I told him how she wants me to retire (she asked me when I was going to last June) and that she wanted this to happen months ago so another girl who was going to leave the firm would stay and work for him. I was so livid! He finally said, So, she's not your ally, and I said no, and neither are you.
Well, she finally tracked me down this afternoon. I told her I didn't want to talk to her and didn't have anything to say, but she wanted to talk to me, so we went in my office. I ended up telling her that I knew what she said and that it was a big lie - all about no one ever asking me for help. Blah, blah, blah. It went on and on, but the final thing was that she did apologize to me for saying that and said that she would go back to the EC and confess her misquote. She said that she'd ask the 2 attorneys that she "thought" had asked me to help that I turned down. I'd sure like to know who they are too. She told me that my boss had volunteered my time at a number of shareholder meetings (unbeknownst to me) and none of them have every taken him up on that offer. We also had a little talk about what my boss considers work. Just because he doesn't give me any work to do, doesn't mean I'm not busy. There are 2 different works - his work and my work, and I have tons more of "my work" that I have to do than "his" work. After about 20 min. conversation, I think she finally got the picture. I'm still very aggravated at my boss for even thinking that about me. Of course, this does NOT mean that I'm getting any more of a bonus than I did. :rolleyes:
Sorry for the long rant, but I really do feel better getting that off my chest. ;)

Haven't seen her since this morning so I know she's not eating. If she shows up tomorrow, I'm going to take her to the vet and have them put her to sleep. I just can't watch her suffer and I don't think she can get over this in time without eating.

Thanks Brandy. YOu would think after 28+ years, I'd be used to the way he treats me and how he acts, but it never ceases to amaze me. The paralegal and I have conversations about his attitude all the time. He puts on a good front with everyone else, but they don't work for him and see that side of him.

Maggie, I am glad I could make you laugh! I am glad you could rant and get it out of your system. Some people just don't understand what it means to be someone's boss. He should have defended you and whoever those supposed lawyers were that asked for your assistance and didn't get it, why didn't they say it wasn't true. I am guessing they weren't asked. She probably knew it wouldn't get questioned. She just didn't count on you finding out. Unfortunately what is done is done.

Maggie, you can vent to us anytime! Very crummy about your bonus! I agree with Nancy, don't trust her. Just reading your post about the situation makes me furious. How dare they treat you like that. Plus I can't stand a liar and that gal lied. I made my Drs associate cry once because I told her she was a liar! I had enough. She lied all the time to get her way and make me look bad. Ugh! I outlasted her though. LOL I hope things get better at the office. I think it is great that you called them all out on it. If the two voo doo dolls Nancy has offered aren't enough I can send a few :-)

Things here are pretty good. Just holiday stuff going on. Gift exchange and luncheon yesterday was fun. I got the Cricut cartridge Art Deco and some other things from the gals.
DH is continuing to do well. He is wearing the "shoe" and getting along well.

Good morning! There was a couple of inches of snow on the ground this morning. Still cold but at least in was in the teens instead of the single digits! LOL
Brenda, your little parties and gift exchanges sound like fun! I ran into Hobby Lobby yesterday and was looking for something for a gift exchange, I didn't find anything for the recipient but I did for me! LOL. One thing was something I needed (those felt alcohol ink applicators) so that is like buy adhesive and doesn't count. But they did finally have one set of clear acrylic Christmas stamps and those little date stamps with the phrases and it was all Christmas phrases. It was only $2.99! So I got it and the clear stamps.
Jackie, I saw your town on the news. The weather that is. Snow totals for this morning. LOL
LOL! I don't know what the snow total is....I had to drive in it so I'm just going to say with the exception of the main streets; it was not fun but my old SUV drove through it with no problem :-)
It's no wonder Brandon wants it when we buy a new car for me....she's old but very sturdy!!!
I just enjoyed a nice cup of Chai Latte.....I'm all out until my next shipment gets here sometime this week! Guess I'll start drinking the caramel until my box shows up :-D

That's just it, they weren't asked before she told the EC what she did. And those on the EC just took her word for it without any questions to me about it. Oh, I don't trust her one bit and never have.

My boss called me into his office after she left to ask me something business related. He's trying to be the secretary again. :shock: Anyway, I told him
Me: "By the way, _________ and I had a long talk yesterday and she admitted that what she said about me wasn't true.
Him: Oh, that's good.
Me: Yes, I don't know why she fabricated that little story about me, but that's exactly what it was.
Him: Blank stare. OK"

I actually quit working for him after about 14 months, but then the lady who was OM back then and his paralegal talked me into coming back. It was a disaster when I got back, but we had a talk at the time about how things were going to be. How quickly they forget. I actually tried to quit after that a couple of times, but he is so well known in the legal community here, it was hard to find someone that I wanted to work for that would hire me because of him. He puts on a really good front with the public so they couldn't understand why I would not want to work for him. Then it was just that I had been here so long, that it was almost impossible to leave and go somewhere else. Now, though, I don't want another legal job, I want out of that altogether and do something fun and different.
Thanks for the happy thoughts. It does help to have you guys here to cry on your shoulder. I promise I won't make a habit of it. :mrgreen:

Maggie, I guess the legal world is small! I don't think I would have lasted 28 yrs! You never know though. Sometimes staying where you know what to expect is better than the unknown.

Exactly. When I left the first time 27 years ago, I worked a very short time for a couple of men who were very set in their ways. One solo practitioner did NOT want me to make any changes to his documents even if it was wrong. Needless to say, I didn't stay there very long.

He was not the same guy I started with. I totally understand your frustration. Even worse when everyone else thinks he is wonderful.
