Page Kits

Has anyone tried making up page kits? Any pointers would be appreciated.

I make up page kits to take when going to a crop. It has helped me get a lot accomplished when "paying to play". I still have to purchase some things or bring them from home the next day as I never remember or have everything I need/want.

I start with a sketch about half the time.
I pick the pictures that I want to use then go shopping in my stash for elements that fit the sketch.
I pick papers that coordinate then look for embellishments that I think will fit the theme of my papers and pictures.
I add ribbons, button, brads etc.
I put everything into a 12x12 (or larger) plastic sleeve.

Are you going to a crop or making kits for another purpose?

I do the same as Sharon, and it makes scrapping so much nicer! Even if you're away home and have a small block of time, you can pull out one of your kits and accomplish a completed page! I don't have 12 x 12 sleeves for them I just stack one on the other in a 12 x 12 plastic box that has a handle.

I wanted advice for kits for 4-h meetings(scrapbooking club) as well as when you have an hour to spare at home.

I agree with Sharon, except instead of 12x12 sleeves, I use the 2-gal. size plastic storage baggies (like Ziploc) when putting together kits. They're a little more durable when putting in brads with pointed ends or other bulky embellishments that are still in packaging or containers.

Are you providing everything in the kits for the 4-H club? If you are, I think I'd probably stick with the basics of plain white or kraft cardstock packs for backgrounds and the big patterned paper pads that are usually on sale. You could then ask the kids to look around for junk/ephemera that they could upcycle as embellishments, kinda like smashbooking. Or you could go the altered scrapbooking route too and just use old, discarded books, paper scraps, and found items. Kids might actually find that more fun than formal scrapbooking if they're brand new to this hobby anyway.

Thanks for the thrifty advice. Stretching a dollar is important with 20 kids 9-14 yrs of age. We will encourage recycling.
