agreed!! I don't like that we start new threads with these craft threads. I get that they get long to read but the old ones have great info and patterns to go back to.
I have been searching but haven't found what I am looking for.
I am SURE there was a post with tutorial for men's wallet-style gift card holder??
Any help would be appreciated.
OK.. so who has started items for this year's sales? Anyone?
I really need to replenish cards and hair clips. I didn't make any of either new this past year.
I havent started crafting quite yet. My craft room is VERY cold. The previous owners let their kids play up in the crawl space, and they crushed the vent that brings the heat to this room. So it gets frigid in here. I do have a space heater, but sometimes it is just too cold to even turn that on. My hubby laughs at me with my electric blanket and snuggie trying to keep warm to craft!
But I will get in there and get working on stuff soon!
I actually have two shows coming up in March and May, so I have been crafting non-Christmas items and replenishing my card suitcase. It is also cold in my craft room, but I am trying to spend some time in there!
I've been busy with 3 orders I received from people who saw me at craft fairs last November/December and took my business card. One was an order for baby shower favors/mini-cupcake toppers, another for Hershey Nugget purses for a Sunday School class, and another for candy favors for school-age kids. Yay!!! Now I need to make 100 thank you notes for my sister-in-law's wedding the end if March ( I had made her wedding invites).
Then I can work on replenishing stock. I sold quite a few cards, so I want to work on those. And since I do a lot of punch art, I'd like to start early on my peppermint patty faces.
Diane, I've subbed to the old link which I believe is the one you're referring to, so it's back near the top of the 'techniques' pages.
This year, I'm trying (successfully so far) to create with items which I've purchased in the past, but never got round to using, rather than spending on loads of new stuff. Planning to do a market at the end of March, which will be autumn here, and hopefully alot cooler than it has been lately!!
LOL FiP
While you are hoping for cooler weather, I am hoping by the end of March for LESS WHITE!! We have had so much snow this year! My kids have missed 6 days of school just since January due to snow. The other day my son (who was wishing and praying for snow) said to me "You know Mom, I am kind of over it" LOL
I have been really bad at blogging. I was in such a slump last year with stress at work, not having time to craft etc, so I really dropped the ball on posting.
I have been creating! I just need to get posting!!!
I will work on it! :-)
well set up on the Spring booth for the school is for me Next week on Thursday so, blog posts have been going up on packaging and pricing and such people keep asking me oh how do you price cards and I don't know what to tell them exactly... its kinda a hit and miss trial and error and gut feeling kind of a thing I guess.
still need more paper baskets, Easter & maybe some mothers day in this counting down the days time. just thought I would peek in and wave.
Had my Spring show yesterday. I made back what I paid for the table, plus $2! My daughter sold her loom bracelets and made $21. We were in a long hallway and at one point had tables on both sides of the wall! Barely enough room to move. Then they moved a few people around due to no shows and it was much better. The heat was on full blast it seemed, and it was soooo stinkin' hot! They did get the heat under control thankfully.
Traffic was very minimal. Many tables didnt sell anything. It was supposed to go until 3, I started packing up at 1. No signage, and the GPS directed you to buildings on the opposite side of the street, so I don't know if people just couldn't find us or what.
Anyway proceeds went to my son's cub scout pack and cradles to crayons, so it wasn't a complete waste.
Oh and I was happy because there was a Tupperware lady there selling the soup mug that I LOVE. In the catalog it was $12, and she had them for $5 (Retired colors). I bought the 5 she had as well as a shaker thing (for mixing up gravy etc) for $5 each. The shaker thing is normally $16, so I was happy with the $46 I saved! :-)
Gina, I'm really sorry to hear about your $2 profit! I was supposed to be at a market yesterday, but it was cancelled following a rainy few days. It's now at the end of April, which suits me because I've made a few things for mothers' day, which is in May in Australia. Also gives me time to (maybe) make some things using the Spiral Flower Die which should be delivered this week. I've been using some past purchases of notepads/post-it notes etc this year, rather than buying loads of new supplies and storing them like I usually do!

Mother's Day is in May here as well. :-)
I just dont think Spring sales, at least here, are that profitable. But it's okay. I chalk it up to an experience. :-)
Yes, I realised after I posted that it's Fathers Day that's different. In Australia, we have it in September, but I think USA does June??
I'm all for experience, just with more than a $2 profit!!!

:-) Yes the $2 profit was lame....but I didnt really do much "extra" for this show then stuff I already had (minus Christmas of course). And the profits of the table costs went for my sons Cub Scout troop as well as Cradles to Crayons, so it wasn't all a lost cause. That's how I look at it anyway.
:-)
OK.. I am starting now. I spent this past weekend online ordering my "bigger" supplies like tins and magnets and glass pieces. It is always such an ordeal to order but I like to get it all done before summer.
I have been working on making some hairclips lately. They are not a main item for me but I still sell several each year. I just keep a running box.
I purchase 2 little suitcases from Michaels which I plan to use to display cards this year. last yer, I didn't even both to put any out because I didn't want to pull out my HUGE card spinner (I think I will be selling that now). Anyhow, they are Paris themed so I think that should be used for many years.
