TLC228 Stand Up Card {7/6/09}
Hi everyone. It's time to stand up and be noticed! That's right, today's technique is a fold that will have everyone standing up for all the world (or at least those in the room) to see.
Today's Stand Up Card was introduced to me by Penny Wessenauer who has graciously agreed to share with us these directions with her full size template sheet.
This card will fit into a standard size A-2 envelope when folded, so no need for any special sized envelope.
To create the base for your stand up card you will need a piece of cardstock 5-1/5 X 12.
Bone folder or other scoring tool (Scor-Pal, Scor-It)
Craft knife, paper cutter, or scissors
ruler
This card base is really simple. Once you know how simple this fold is to make, I bet you won't be able to stop. It's the perfect base for any card that you hope the recipient is anxious to show off to her friends.
Let's assume you have already cut your cardstock to 5-1/2" tall by 12" long
Measure in and score at 4" from each side - this will give you 3 panels each 4" wide & 5-1/2" tall.
On the left and right edges, measure down 3" from the top and mark a little dot. This will be your guide for the cutting the "stand up" parts of this card.
If you are using a ruler to guide your cuts, align the ruler from the top of your scored line and cut on a diagonal towards the dot that you just made. Do this on either side of the card.
Lastly, you will want to make score line measuring 2", 4", 8" 10" running from top to bottom. Burnish each score line with your bone folder to get a nice fold. (see photos for which way to fold your hills & valleys.)
I just love fun folds and this card is perfect to send to those who love to display cards they receive.

And, as always don't forget to add the keyword TLC228 (no spaces) when you upload your projects.
HINT FOR NEXT WEEK: Get your ruler ready for more faux fun!

Hi Lynn! I'm looking forward to doing this challenge. I can't view the photobucket directions... it takes me to a sign in page. Do you need to be a member of photobucket to view? Thanks!

I can access it now... I did have to sign up for a free photobucket account. Just an FYI if anyone else can't access it.

I was able to go to photobucket and looking at the picture it looks like this technique would be easy peasy - after I finish up doing my cards for the Wish RAK Cards for the Troops challenge that was held this weekend I'll make one of these - I may even use this technique for a card for that challenge and kill two birds with one stone! I'm assuming any sentiment you'd wish to share would be put on the reverse side of the front of the card?

I thought I'd go with using scraps that were on my table. I bought this set to use one stamp for an ATC swap, now I've managed to use all six stamps at least once each.
